Senior Scientist - Nutrition Ingredients (Milwaukee Area) A growing and innovation-driven company within the food and nutrition ingredients sector is seeking a Senior Scientist to support applied research and product development across advanced delivery systems for dietary supplement and functional ingredient applications. This role is ideal for a hands-on scientist with a strong background in dietary supplements or adjacent sectors, and experience developing formulations for nutrients and bioactives. You will play a key role in advancing ingredient technologies from early-stage research through to pilot-scale development, working closely with senior technical leadership and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities Design and execute laboratory experiments to support innovation and product development programs Develop and optimize formulations for nutrients, bioactives, and functional ingredients, with a focus on dietary supplement applications Conduct research on delivery systems including encapsulation, emulsions, and controlled-release technologies Support development of powdered ingredient systems and functional beverage formats Analyze and interpret experimental data related to stability, performance, and bioavailability Maintain accurate lab notebooks, reports, and technical documentation Prepare technical summaries and data packages to support internal decision-making Contribute to development of technical materials including technical reports, patents, and regulatory-supporting documentation Assist with pilot-scale trials, process transfer, and early-stage scale-up activities Identify formulation and process challenges and implement data-driven solutions Support validation testing including shelf-life, stability, and performance assessments Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, quality, operations, and commercial teams Provide technical support for customer-related projects including troubleshooting and sample development Participate in project meetings and innovation reviews Ensure adherence to laboratory safety standards and best practices Support continuous improvement of lab workflows, methods, and efficiency Stay current on emerging technologies within food, nutrition, and dietary supplement ingredients Requirements M.S. or Ph.D. in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nutritional Science, Materials Science, or related field 2-6+ years of hands-on laboratory experience within dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, or closely related food/nutrition ingredient sectors Strong experience in formulation development for nutrients, bioactives, or functional ingredients Experience with delivery systems such as encapsulation, emulsions, powders, or controlled-release technologies preferred Strong experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving skills Experience with analytical techniques related to ingredient performance and stability is a plus Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Strong written and verbal communication skills
