About the role

Ecclesiastical Insurance Canada, who are proudly part of Benefact Group, are looking for a Senior Risk Controls Specialist to join our Toronto office.

The Senior Risk Control Specialist will have a hands-on and varied scope of responsibilities, with the opportunity to work across multiple areas of risk management. The Senior Risk Control Specialist will conduct in-person and virtual property and casualty risk inspections, complete building valuations, perform desktop risk assessments, and identify casualty-related risks.

In addition, you will collaborate closely with our underwriting and claims teams to share findings and deliver clear, engaging risk management presentations. The role may also include facilitating seminars and workshops to educate and support stakeholders in understanding and effectively managing risk.

What you'll be doing
  • Conduct risk control inspections and building valuations as assigned
  • Prepare written inspection, risk management, and valuation reports in line with company guidelines, procedures, and established timelines
  • Develop and recommend strategies to control and reduce identified risks
  • Consult with customers on child protection protocols and compliance audit requirements
  • Communicate and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical support, including training for internal teams and external customers
What you'll need to have
  • University degree or college diploma or equivalent risk controls experience.
  • Completion of relevant designations such as CRM (Canadian Risk Management) and CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional)
  • Technical training related to risk control (i.e. RMS School, related fire protection programs, construction, security, etc.)
  • A minimum of 7 years of related Risk Controls, Risk Services, or Loss Prevention experience
  • Proficiency with computer applications and willingness to learn new technologies and skills
  • In-depth technical & engineering knowledge of risk control practices, procedures and standards
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Build and maintain partnerships and networks internally, as well as externally with clients and potential clients
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Must be available and willing to travel within an assigned region to perform risk control and valuation functions, as well as to visit the appropriate regional offices as required
  • Must have a personal vehicle, a valid driving license and insurance of the vehicle for business purposes in accordance with Ecclesiastical's Vehicle and Mileage Policy
