The Opportunity:
As a Senior RF Engineer specializing in Beamformer Design, you will lead the development and analysis of advanced beamforming architectures and phased array systems for both large and small-scale applications. Your expertise will drive the design and implementation of digital and analog beamforming networks, contributing significantly to the company's innovative phased array projects and future opportunities. Lead the conceptualization, design, and analysis of beamformer architectures including analog and digital beamforming networks, adaptive array processing, multi-beam systems, and phased array feed networks. Apply your engineering experience and knowledge to provide creative and timely beamforming solutions to projects having complex requirements and aggressive milestones while meeting financial budget goals. Join a dynamic, collaborative team where you will have the opportunity to work alongside engineers from a variety of disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Work on multiple fast-paced beamformer and phased array focused projects and activities
- Lead design teams and actively participate in the design, development, and measurement of advanced beamforming networks and phased array systems
- Guide and mentor junior RF/antenna engineers in beamformer design principles and phased array technologies
- Design, model, analyze, and measure the performance of analog and digital beamforming networks for various phased array architectures
- Develop beamforming algorithms and implement array calibration techniques for optimal array performance
- Design, model, analyze, and measure phased array antennas including active electronically scanned arrays (AESA) and their beamforming components
- Perform beam pattern synthesis, sidelobe control analysis, and multi-beam optimization
- Design and analyze phase shifters, time delay units, power dividers, and other beamforming network components
- Contribute to the fabrication and assembly of prototype beamformer systems and phased array antennas
- Serve as a lead contributor/author for white papers/customer proposals/IRAD proposals related to beamforming and phased array technologies
- Serve in a consulting role as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all aspects of beamformer design, phased array systems, and array signal processing across your team/organization and across multiple organizations within the company
- Work independently to complete individual engineering tasks while seamlessly collaborating with the larger multidisciplinary team
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE desired) and 15+ years of experience in RF/Antenna design with significant focus on phased arrays and beamforming systems
- Strong understanding of antenna array theory, beamforming principles, and RF phased array architectures
- Extensive experience in phased array RF design, including active and passive arrays
- Understanding of beamformer design processes and array architectures (analog, digital, and hybrid beamforming)
- Experience in designing, building, and testing prototype beamforming networks and phased array RF systems
- Knowledge of RF propagation, link budgets, array gain calculations, G/T analysis, and phased array system performance assessments
- Must be a US Citizen and willing to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
- Proficiency in electromagnetic and system simulation software such as HFSS, ADS, Microwave Office, Keysight Genesys (or SystemVue), WASP-NET, and GRASP with emphasis on array modeling and beamformer simulation
- Extensive experience in ultrawideband phased array design, beamforming network development, and array measurement
- Experience with beam pattern analysis, beam steering algorithms, and array calibration techniques
- Experience in advanced array antenna design including conformal arrays, multi-band phased arrays, and simultaneous multi-beam systems
- Experience using scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python to process and analyze beamformer performance, array patterns, and measured phase
