This is a hybrid position in Austin, TX

Position Summary

The Revenue and Recognition Accountant performs analyses and reconciliation of small and large complex deals ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting and Thales Cyber Security Products (CSP) revenue recognition policies. This position works closely with various departments within the organization including, but not limited to, Sales, Sales Operations, Sr. Management, Operations, Legal, Finance, etc. as it relates to meeting revenue.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the review and interpretation of revenue contracts and commercial transactions to determine proper accounting in accordance with CSP policies and IFRS.
  • Analyze and document sales transactions in APAC, EMEA, NORAM that are above a certain thresholds.
  • Research issues on revenue recognition issues as they arise.
  • Processing, recording, and reconciling revenue and deferred revenue.
  • Provide support for all aspects of revenue related month end close activity.
  • Perform timely reconciliations each months to ensure data integrity of revenue, deferred revenue and assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Report to sales team and operations outstanding deferred revenue items.
  • Ensure all revenue is properly allocated for multiple element arrangements.
  • Provide monthly revenue reporting, including preparing revenue and deferred revenue roll-forward analysis, and reports for internal and external reporting related to the revenue transactions.
  • Work with auditors to answer questions and provide support for CSP revenue recognition, and assigned balance
  • sheet reconciliations, including policies and procedures.
  • Obtain an in-depth knowledge of Authoritative Accounting Literature such as IFRS 15 and pending Topic 606.
  • Assist in training efforts primarily to Sales as to the basic revenue recognition principles.
  • Monitor changes in accounting guidance and regulations to ensure accurate reporting of revenue.
  • Responsible for review and reconciliation of various Revenue Related Balance sheet accounts.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or 5+ years of experience working in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced experience with Excel and major ERP systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; ability to explain revenue recognition to various teams unfamiliar with finance.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage and multi-task critical projects to completion within established deadlines
  • Prior experience with period-end close process and reporting.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external parties to maximize performance, creativity, problem-solving and results.
  • Ability to operate independently to produce creative and practical solutions from general direction.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 to 3+ years of previous experience working in revenue recognition.
  • Certified Public Account (CPA).
  • MBA or Master's degree in another relevant field of study.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Previous experience with Oracle ERP systems.
  • Previous experience with Revenue Tool.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills

Total Target Cash (TTC) 81,927.00 - 142,140.00 USD Annual
