JOB SUMMARYThis position is responsible for leading research security and export control reviews, shaping institutional policy, and ensuring adherence to federal and institutional requirements. This role works independently to provide expert-level guidance to researchers, senior administrators, and compliance partners on regulatory matters related to national security, foreign influence, and international research engagement.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONRequired- Education
Bachelor's Degree
- Experience
5 years of progressively responsible experience in research compliance or export control.
Knowledge of U.S. export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, OFAC).
Expert knowledge of applicable federal regulations.
Experience leading cross-functional compliance initiatives.
Preferred- Education
Master's Degree or J.D.
- Licenses and Certifications
Export Control Certification in EAR/ITAR Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES- Serves as a subject matter expert in export control (EAR, ITAR, OFAC) and research security regulations (e.g., NSPM-33, CUI, CMMC).
- Leads complex assessments of research activities, international collaborations, and foreign funding.
- Develops and implement policies, procedures, and training related to research security.
- Manages sensitive or high-risk Technology Control Plans and oversight programs.
- Coordinates institutional response to audits, investigations, and federal inquiries.
- Provides consultation to campus leadership and research teams.
- Represents the institution in external meetings, compliance forums, and regulatory updates.
- Collaborates with other compliance offices, Sponsored Program, Conflict of Interest, Information Resources, Information Security, legal, and department administrators.
- Supervises or mentors junior analysts and assist in departmental strategy.
- Performs other duties as assigned
