Position Overview The Senior Research Analyst collects, analyzes and communicates institutional data and other information to constituents throughout the college. The position develops analytical solutions, prepares reports and data visualizations, supports institutional reporting requirements, maintains data documentation, and collaborates with stakeholders throughout the College to transform data into actionable information that supports institutional priorities.
This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees.
What you will be doing - Collects, analyzes, validates, interprets, and communicates institutional data and information to support strategic planning, institutional effectiveness, student success initiatives, operational decision-making, and executive reporting
- Develops and maintains reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and other decision-support resources that facilitate data-informed decision-making across the College
- Utilizes SQL, SAS, and other analytical tools to access, transform, validate, and analyze institutional data from multiple sources
- Supports state, federal, accreditation, and other internal and external reporting requirements by preparing timely, accurate, and reliable analyses and data submissions
- Collaborates with Information Technology and other stakeholders to support data governance, data quality, institutional reporting, and data management initiatives
- Develops, maintains, and validates data definitions, business rules, technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and other institutional knowledge resources that support reporting consistency and continuity of operations
- Translates complex data into meaningful written, visual, and verbal presentations for executive leaders, administrators, faculty, and other stakeholders
- Leads and participates in institutional research, analytics, reporting, and special project initiatives that support College priorities and strategic goals
- Provides guidance, training, and knowledge-sharing to junior staff and stakeholders regarding institutional data assets, reporting methodologies, analytical tools, and research practices
- Participates in cross-training, documentation, and continuity-planning activities to strengthen organizational resiliency and ensure continuity of critical Institutional Research functions
- Remains current in field of Institutional Research (IR) and engages in ongoing professional development
- Participates in committees, project teams, or workgroups and represents the office at local/internal, state, or national meetings
- Performs other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed - Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Psychology, Economics, Math Sciences, or related field and three (3) years of relevant research, statistical analysis and report writing experience, or Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of related experience
- All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Knowledge of institutional research principles, higher education reporting requirements, institutional effectiveness practices, and data-informed decision-making
- Knowledge of data management concepts, data structures, data quality practices, and data governance principles
- Proficiency in programming languages like SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, STATA, or others and experience utilizing analytical and statistical tools to access, validate, transform, analyze, and report institutional data
- Experience developing reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and decision-support resources using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Excel, or similar technologies
- Ability to analyze data from multiple sources, synthesize complex information, identify trends and patterns, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and appropriate statistical techniques used in higher education research, assessment and institutional research
- Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, business rules, standard operating procedures, and other knowledge-management resources
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, research conceptualization skills, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse stakeholder groups
- Ability to work collaboratively with Information Technology, academic and administrative units, executive leadership, and external stakeholders in support of institutional priorities
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development, knowledge sharing, and cross-training to support institutional effectiveness and operational continuity
- Close attention to detail and ability to organize and manage tasks in a timely manner
- Possess strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and user orientation skills
