About The Team The Billing and Payments teams at GEICO own the tools, infrastructure, data, reporting, analytics, and services required to deliver seamless billing and payment experiences for customers and partners. The platform supports financial transactions and customer interactions at scale, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, customer satisfaction, and compliance.
What you will do We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer who can validate payments products from the customer and business-process perspective, build scalable automation suites, and help move quality earlier in the delivery lifecycle. This role combines outside-in black-box testing, API and integration validation, automation framework development, and close partnership with engineering teams to prevent defects before they reach production.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute outside-in black-box test strategies that validate end-to-end customer, partner, and business payment flows without relying on implementation details.
- Build and maintain reliable automation suites across API, integration, UI, and end-to-end flows, with clear coverage, low flakiness, and actionable failure signals for engineering teams.
- Conduct performance, load, and reliability testing using tools such as k6, JMeter, or LoadRunner to identify bottlenecks, validate system behavior under scale, and provide actionable findings to engineering teams.
- Partner with developers, product managers, and platform teams to move testing earlier in the delivery lifecycle by integrating automated quality gates, test data, observability signals, and validation checks into CI/CD pipelines.
- Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve test design, test data generation, failure analysis, and automation productivity while maintaining strong engineering judgment and quality standards.
- Stay current with quality engineering practices, tools, and automation patterns, and apply them to improve test coverage, reliability, and engineering productivity.
Who you are This role is expected to influence quality practices across the delivery lifecycle, not only execute test cases. The ideal candidate will help define risk-based test strategy, improve automation reliability, strengthen release confidence, and partner with engineers to prevent recurring defects.
Minimum Requirements - 5+ years of hands-on quality engineering or software test engineering experience, including risk-based test strategy, outside-in black-box testing, automation suite development, API and integration validation, and CI/CD-based quality gates.
- Proven ability to build and maintain reliable automated test suites across API, integration, UI, and end-to-end flows using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, TestNG, Postman, REST Assured, Cypress, or similar frameworks.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, and Integration testing
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript for automation.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and judgment to assess quality risk in complex customer or business flows.
- Ability to use SQL or PostgreSQL to validate test data, investigate defects, and verify transaction outcomes.
- Experience in payments and checkout.
Preferred Qualifications - Expertise in performance testing tools like JMeter, LoadRunner, or k6.
- Knowledge of cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
- Experience working in fast-paced, agile engineering environments with cross-functional product, engineering, and platform teams.
