What We're Looking ForWe are seeking a Senior Public Engagement and Communications Specialist to help lead transportation infrastructure projects through comprehensive public involvement.
What You'll Do:- Research data sources, gathers data, and conducts analysis of data for use in projects.
- Identifies planning and analysis strategies using tools such as GIS, traffic, or safety software to manipulate data, assess scenarios, and perform project analysis.
- Investigates, evaluates, and provides recommendations on planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
- Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
- Participates in client meetings and interactions.
- Leads preparation of maps, exhibits, and presentation materials for projects.
- Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.
- Participates in the development of conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation planning projects
- Writes major sections of and leads production of plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents for transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Participates in public process and stakeholder facilitation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:- Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 4 years related professional experience, or
- Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of relevant experience
Primary focus will include:- Supporting transportation infrastructure projects by directing comprehensive public involvement
- Leading outreach activities including public meetings, stakeholder briefings, open houses, and other in-person events.
- Managing the development of content include presentations, flyers, website updates, email blasts, social media posts, talking points, and other written materials.
- Maintaining detailed records including meeting notes and documenting correspondence with members of the public, stakeholders, and government entities.
- Developing robust public and stakeholder involvement plans to guide outreach activities.
- Leading the usage of a variety of technology platforms to correspond with the public and develop and edit content including the Public Involvement Management Application (PIMA) as well as Adobe, Microsoft, and ArcGIS tools.
Preferred qualifications and skills:- Previous work experience in transportation, public outreach, or planning through prior employment

The approximate pay range for Massachusetts is $89,301.41 - $133,952.12. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
