Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose: The Senior Manager of Programs leads the Program Management capability within COC's Optical Connectivity Solutions Product Innovation group. Acts through a team of Program Managers leading major technological innovations within OCS. May lead an innovation program directly. Programs have high complexity, risk, and ambiguity.
Responsibilities: • Directly manage the team of Program Managers that lead major technological innovations within OCS. Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, and other supervisory tasks to drive the successful and timely delivery of OCS Innovation Programs to budget and performance expectations.
• Work with business leaders to define/validate value proposition, business hypothesis, and foundational assumptions at start of program. Establish global program structures to ensure the success of innovation programs.
• Work in coordination with COC Leaders in Product Innovation, Business Teams, Product Line Management, Division Engineering and Manufacturing to provide program specific direction and guidance to Program Managers.
• Secure and maintain adequate resources to enable the success of programs and projects.
• Through program managers, ensure development of comprehensive program/project plans. Establish objectives and monitor adherence to the master plans and schedules.
Travel Requirements: Domestic and international travel expected up to 25%.
Work Location: Hickory NC, Keller TX, or other OCS Technology locations.
Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or other relevant discipline.
• 5+ years of management experience including managing direct reports in a complex, cross-functional, culturally diverse environment.
• 10+ Years of experience in Product Development
• 4+ years of documented experience demonstrating communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills at all levels of an organization (team, peer, and senior executive levels) with a demonstrated ability to build relationships in a heavily matrixed, team environment.
• Demonstrated effective leadership, organization, and planning skills with ability to handle changing priorities and requirements with high levels of ambiguity.
• Ability to manage and effectively leverage a team of diverse expertise, backgrounds, cultures and styles.
Desired Skills: • Multiple-year work experience in at least two of the following areas: Commercial / Product Line Management, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Engineering.
• Completion of formal project management training.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $183,877.00 - $252,831.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
