The Opportunity: Senior Project ManagerPermanent, Full-Time position, based out of Whitehorse, Yukon.
What will you do: As the Senior Project Manager - Large Projects, you will:
- Lead the delivery of major and complex capital projects, including the Whitehorse Power Centres Project, from project definition through design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Manage project scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, approvals, and overall performance to ensure successful project delivery.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and external partners.
- Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Planning, Procurement, and Finance, while providing clear project reporting and recommendations to senior management and the Board.
What you need to succeed: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering and project management experience delivering large and complex capital projects within the electric utility, power generation, or energy infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading thermal power generation projects through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout, with experience in diesel and/or LNG generation and associated systems.
- Strong experience delivering electrical infrastructure, including substations, transmission and distribution systems, and integration of new generation into the existing grid.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams, engage stakeholders, and foster accountability for delivering project objectives.
- Strong knowledge of major capital project delivery, including scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, change management, project controls, commissioning, and operational readiness.
- Experience planning and administering procurement processes, including RFI, RFQ, RFP and tender processes, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and contract management.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal departments, regulators, utilities, Indigenous governments, consultants, contractors, and external partners.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or equivalent recognized project management certification is preferred. An Electrical Engineering background and/or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is considered an asset.
