Projects will involve modular construction strategies at large scales and strict compliance with government grants in a highly fast-paced environment.

Based in Alameda, California, you will oversee day-to-day construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining high quality standards. You will serve as a key leader, directly and indirectly supervising specific project team roles-such as Project Engineers, Construction Managers, and Project Coordinators-while collaborating with internal teams and external engineering and construction partners to effectively coordinate, execute, and close out this large-scale capital project.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Project Leadership: Direct and lead key phases of large capital projects and construction management including: project planning, site development, permitting, contracts, front-end engineering and detailed design (FEED), documentation, construction, and closeout.
  • Innovation & Speed to Market: Drive project execution efficiencies by challenging traditional engineering and construction paradigms. Identify, evaluate, and deploy novel execution strategies-such as advanced modularization, off-site prefabrication, lean construction techniques, and digital project tracking tools-to compress schedules, lower project risks, and accelerate market deployment
  • Team Supervision: Direct, manage, and mentor specific personnel within the internal project team (e.g., Project Engineers, Construction Managers, and Project Schedulers), ensuring clear delegation of tasks, performance oversight, and alignment with project goals.
  • Safety & Grant Compliance: Ensure all personnel-including external contractors-comply with company, local, and federal safety and regulatory requirements, alongside maintaining strict adherence to government grant stipulations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Own project budget and construction schedule as well as coordination across contractors, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Contractor & Vendor Management: Provide leadership to the onsite construction team; provide clear direction on priorities, schedules, and coordination to ensure objectives are met. This includes extensive coordination with vendors supplying project modules
  • Process Discipline: Drive project through a disciplined use of standard project management processes (ie FEL stages) to reduce risk and increase the velocity of the project without sacrificing quality or safety.
  • Administration & Documentation: Manage change order requests, approvals, documentation, scope of work, and record-keeping, while supporting Request for Information (RFI) processes.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve field issues that could impact safety, quality, or the project timeline.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in project or construction management, including ground-up construction projects. Direct experience managing large-scale projects and modular construction is required. Experience with government grant compliance is highly desired. Must have proven experience supervising and developing internal project teams.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a science, engineering, or construction management field.

  • Software Proficiency: Extensive Primavera P6 or OPC experience required.
  • Soft Skills: Proven communication and meeting-management skills, across external and internal teams, with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization and manage external subcontractors effectively.
  • Certification: PMP certification preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Location & Travel: This role is based in Alameda, California. Willing to travel to and work on build sites for extensive time periods. Travel is expected to be 25% over the duration of the project, increasing up to 75% for travel to the job site or modular vendors during construction and commissioning.
  • Site Requirements: Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hardhats, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes.
  • Physical Capabilities: Move long distances and be stationary for extended periods of time. Ability to operate a computer and office equipment in a fixed location on-site.
