Role description: Arcadis is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to serve as a Senior Project Manager within our Industrial Water Treatment and Optimization (IWTO)/Arcadis Construction Services (ACS) team in North Carolina. This role will support multiple water and wastewater treatment design and construction projects throughout North Carolina and across the United States. The position will be based in our Cary or Charlotte, North Carolina office.
The IWTO group currently has two large projects in NC. The successful candidate will be part of the project team on these projects and should expect 25% travel within the state to visit these project sites as well as to visit clients in NC. The IWTO team serves clients throughout the US. As such, the successful client should expect to also be involved with projects outside of NC.
Role accountabilities: This is a dynamic, fast-paced role requiring a Senior Project Manager who is comfortable managing multiple complex design, permitting, and construction projects while developing and maintaining strong client relationships. As this candidate will also be a Civil Engineer, they will also at times have Civil Engineering responsibilities on projects. This could entail serving the Civil discipline lead, SME, or QA/QC on design projects.
Senior project manager accountabilities:
- Manage multiple design and construction projects for a variety of clients ranging from concept design to design/build, with focus on industrial wastewater.
- Prepare and manage solicitations and selection processes for related project vendors and/or suppliers, General Contractors, etc.
- Oversee and manage the project design process to ensure the client's needs are met within the proposed budget and schedule. Assist in the development of the design meetings, monitor design progress and facilitate decision making, prepare written review comments at submittal phases, facilitate value engineering workshops, and other project components as needed to assure a successful outcome
- Knowledgeable in organizing and/or leading the pre-construction meetings, participating in weekly construction meetings, visit site(s) to monitor construction progress, processing ASIs/RFIs, review/process subcontractor and vendor invoices, review and negotiate change order requests, prepare contract amendments, prepare monthly project status reports, monitor the project schedule, budget, and risk management, maintain document control files, and general project close-out activities
- Provide on-site construction QA when necessary to ensure the project is being constructed per the design and specifications
- Review subcontractor-submitted schedules, provide feedback to the Owner on construction progress, and make corrective action recommendations to the Owner and subcontractors should critical path schedule delays become an issue
- Provide monthly budget reports documenting completion status and progress to date. Establish and maintain cost baselines against which program trends are measured and forecasted. Provide cost information to facilitate timely and informed decisions. Manage and oversee all change orders
- Be an active, positive team member who can build positive relationships within internal and external Teams
Civil engineer role accountabilities:
- Lead site civil design and permitting efforts for industrial wastewater projects
- The position manages the planning, design, and permitting process to ensure all work complies with contracts, drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and Arcadis quality and safety standards.
- Provide technical expertise on multi-disciplined projects as an SME, design leader, QA/QC reviewer, or technical advisor.
- Supervise and support the work of others while mentoring junior level engineers and technical staff.
- Work directly with clients to determine needs and deliver solutions and lead the growth of client relationships with target clients.
Qualifications & Experience:- 9+ years of Senior Project Manager experience in the design and construction industry
- Must have experience working on projects in North Carolina
- Able to work on and oversee multiple projects. The successful candidate will be required to go to project sites on occasion
- Professional accreditation in a relevant discipline (Construction Management, Cert. Construction Administrator, Cert. Construction Manager) or related project experience
- Civil Engineering degree
- Strong technical skills related to project software
- Commitment to Health and Safety
- Valid Driver's License

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $136,400 - $204,600. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
