Full Job Description
Job Title: Sr. Project Engineer
Direct Report: VP, Engineering & Construction
FLSA Status: Salary/Exempt
Travel Required: Up to 40 %

Role/Responsibilities:
  • Lead the successful execution of water infrastructure projects, including surface facilities, pipelines, pump stations, and hydraulic modeling systems.
  • Design and manage water pipeline projects ranging from 4-inch to 36-inch systems, including stress calculations, testing procedures, and applicable engineering standards.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, line lists, datasheets, and design calculations, and apply a professional engineering stamp when required.
  • Coordinate project approvals, engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within approved budgets.
  • Develop AFE-level cost estimates, project budgets, and construction schedules, and maintain accurate forecasting of committed, actual, and estimated completion costs.
  • Work directly with all third-party construction companies and field operations to oversee construction from start to finish.
  • Work closely with Land, Commercial, Engineering, Construction, Accounting, Procurement, and field teams to support route selection, cost development, vendor coordination, and project execution.
  • Support field operations by troubleshooting system issues, optimizing performance, and planning maintenance activities.
  • Develop RFP and RFQ packages and collaborate with vendors and contractors to support competitive bidding, timely delivery, and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in Texas and New Mexico, as well as applicable safety, permitting, and engineering standards.
  • Apply relevant industry standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B16.5, and other applicable specifications, to ensure project quality and compliance.
  • Promote adherence to company policies and procedures, including JSAs, training requirements, incident reporting, and safety observations.
  • Travel to project sites frequently to support project reviews, progress checks, commissioning, and startup activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of business needs and organizational growth.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or a related engineering discipline required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required; 10 or more years of experience preferred in pipeline design, hydraulics, or other related midstream operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of pipeline design, hydraulic systems, and water infrastructure project execution.
  • Thorough understanding of corrosion mitigation practices, including coatings and cathodic protection.
  • Experience in project planning, program management, and the execution of multiple mid-sized to large projects concurrently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and deliver commitments on schedule.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to perform effectively in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with poly pipe construction and fusion methods; current certifications preferred.
  • Experience with lightning protection design, evaluation, and implementation for SWD facilities preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% to field locations as required.

  • Ability to lift and carry office materials up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to travel to field or office locations as needed.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional travel to field locations, construction sites, and operational facilities may be required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and dust.
