Full Job Description
Join the Burlington location as a Senior Programmer Analyst, where you'll develop, maintain, and support critical business applications on the IBM i/AS400 platform. We're looking for an experienced professional with strong RPG and COBOL programming skills who can manage projects through the full SDLC, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality solutions that support business operations and drive continuous improvement.

What you will do:
  • Create technical specifications and perform programming, testing, and implementation to deliver high-quality business information processing systems.
  • Develop and maintain applications on IBM i platform.
  • Review proposed solutions using current programming practices and determine the most efficient method for developing the desired functionality.
  • Responsible for delivery of assigned projects through the entire SDLC on a committed timeline.
  • Participate in technical walkthroughs, coding, code reviews, and testing phases (unit, system, QA/UAT).
  • Provide support during Go-Live and post-deployment.
  • Analyses, debugs and supports existing application software
  • Assist with implementation of new applications and systems software, (i.e. upgrades, enhancements, fixes)
  • Assists with troubleshooting, debugging and inquires related to system functionality and performance
  • Collaborate closely with the team manager to ensure project timelines, quality standards, and client requirements are met.
  • Must be able to handle the entire life cycle of a project from requirements gathering to development, unit testing, assisting users with QA testing, UAT, deployment and follow-up support
  • Work with third parties, to determine problem solutions and corrective actions.
  • Perform 24/7 on-call support for critical business applications. This is 1 week at a time on a rotating basis between a team of developers.


What you will bring:
  • Post Secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline with hands-on programming experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 5+ years programming experience on IBM System i, AS400 analysing, developing and implementing applications in RPG IV, RPG Free, ILE using SEU, SDA, embedded SQL, stored procedures, service programs, modules, binding and activation groups.
  • 4+ years experience in analysing and maintaining COBOL batch and interactive programs on the iSeries.
  • Solid understanding of the OS400 environment including Database, Query and Library/File structures;
  • Experience with Aldon change management system and ROBOT job scheduler is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Web Services on the iSeries is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of principles and techniques of computer systems, data communications/network concepts;
  • Fundamental understanding of procedures and structured programming languages, and the ability to assume responsibility for increasingly complex assignments;
  • Experience with EDI transaction processing and Warehouse management software would be an asset;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working in a team environment;
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Highly organized in prioritizing work and multi-tasking


Base Salary: $110,000 to $135,000 + 15% MIP
