This Opportunity

Senior Building Technology Systems Consultant with experience in Healthcare Building Technology Systems design for our Riverside, San Diego or Irvine office. WSP partners with architects, owners, and project teams on complex facilities that prioritize sustainability, digital transformation, and building performance.

As part of our Building Technology Systems team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of healthcare, commercial, higher education, and mission-critical projects. This position offers excellent opportunities for professional growth while working alongside experienced engineers and technology consultants
Your Impact
  • Support the planning, design, and implementation of building technology systems for healthcare and other complex facilities.
  • Design and coordinate low-voltage systems including:
    • Structured Cabling Systems
    • Audio Visual Systems
    • Electronic Safety & Security Systems
    • Code Required Communications Systems
  • Prepare design documents, drawings, specifications, and construction administration deliverables.
  • Coordinate building technology systems with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in client meetings, design workshops, and project coordination sessions.
  • Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination to help ensure projects are delivered successfully.
  • Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and construction observations.
  • Support project managers in managing client expectations, project schedules, and deliverable quality.
  • Assist with proposal development, technical write-ups, and project pursuit activities.
  • Stay current with emerging smart building technologies, industry standards, and healthcare technology trends.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance on project tasks.
  • Contribute to integrated intelligent building and smart building system designs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical, Computer Science, Business/Business Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience designing Building Technology Systems within the architectural, engineering, or consulting industry.
  • Experience designing one or more of the following:
    • Structured Cabling Systems
    • Audio Visual (AV) Systems
    • Electronic Safety & Security Systems
    • Telecommunications Infrastructure
  • Experience supporting healthcare projects, including hospitals, medical office buildings, or healthcare campuses.
  • Understanding of intelligent building and smart building technologies.
  • Experience preparing construction documents, specifications, and design deliverables.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and project teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience coordinating directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with California healthcare projects.
  • Familiarity with OSHPD/HCAI/DSA requirements and healthcare design standards.
  • Experience with intelligent building integration and converged network environments.
  • Industry certifications are a plus, including:
    • BICSI RCDD
    • BICSI DCDC
    • CTS or CTS-D
    • CCNA
    • PMP
    • CPP
    • AVIXA

Compensation
• Expected Salary (all locations): $100,000- $120,000
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
