Job Summary

We're looking for a Senior Production Planner to lead planning activities for an assigned business unit, including demand planning, production planning, capacity planning, inventory management, and schedule execution. This role serves as the primary planning contact for the business and partners closely with Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, and Customer Service to meet customer commitments while optimizing operational performance.

The Senior Production Planner also provides functional leadership and work prioritization to Water Spiders supporting the assigned business unit. This role requires strong analytical capability, business acumen, and the ability to influence decisions through data-driven recommendations.

What You'll Be Doing

Business Unit Planning Leadership
  • Serve as the primary planning lead for an assigned business segment such as OEM, MRO, or Coatings.
  • Develop and maintain production supply plans to meet customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Monitor business performance and proactively identify risks, constraints, and opportunities.
  • Communicate planning priorities, assumptions, and recovery plans to stakeholders.


Demand, Supply & Capacity Planning
  • Develop and maintain forecasts, production plans, and capacity models.
  • Analyze customer demand, backlog, and forecast trends to support operational planning.
  • Identify labor, machine, material, and capacity constraints and develop mitigation plans.
  • Perform what-if analysis to evaluate planning scenarios and support decision-making.


Schedule Execution & Material Flow
  • Support execution of production schedules to meet customer commitments.
  • Coordinate planning priorities with Operations, Procurement, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Provide functional direction and work prioritization to Water Spiders supporting the assigned business unit.
  • Monitor material availability and escalate shortages or risks impacting schedule attainment.


Inventory Management
  • Monitor inventory levels, shortages, excess inventory, inventory turns, and aged inventory.
  • Develop recommendations to optimize inventory while maintaining customer service objectives.
  • Support inventory accuracy and material management initiatives.
  • Drive actions to improve inventory performance and reduce excess or obsolete inventory.


Data Analysis & Business Reporting
  • Utilize ERP systems, Excel, Power BI, and other planning tools to analyze business performance.
  • Maintain key planning metrics including forecast accuracy, backlog, schedule attainment, inventory performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Prepare reports and present planning performance, risks, and recommendations to leadership.


Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Customer Support teams to align planning activities with business objectives.
  • Participate in customer, operational, and business review meetings as the planning representative for the assigned business segment.
  • Support resolution of issues impacting customer deliveries and operational performance.


Continuous Improvement & Mentorship
  • Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, data accuracy, material flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to Planners and Associate Planners.
  • Promote standardized planning practices and knowledge sharing across the planning organization.


What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, planning, scheduling, production control, supply chain, or related functions.
  • Experience coordinating production priorities, capacity, material availability, or operational execution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and planning-related reporting tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.


Nice to Have
  • Experience in production planning, demand planning, scheduling, or materials management.
  • Aerospace, MRO, OEM manufacturing, or coating operations experience.
  • Experience with forecasting, inventory management, or capacity planning.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent training.
  • Experience with Power BI or advanced data analysis.


This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions.
