What you will be doing:

The Senior Product Owner, Wealth Platform is responsible for translating Tangerine's Digital Wealth product strategy into an executable roadmap of investment platform capabilities. Reporting to the Director & Head, Platform & Products, Digital Wealth, the role owns the definition, prioritization, and delivery of capabilities that expand Tangerine's wealth proposition and support an integrated, digital-first client and advisor experience.

The role will lead the development and execution of platform capabilities across areas such as self-directed investing, managed solutions, multi-currency accounts and foreign exchange, portfolio-based lending, margin accounts, securities lending, direct indexing, tax-loss harvesting, and other emerging wealth solutions.

Working closely with the Program Delivery team, the Senior Product Owner will formulate the platform roadmap, translate strategic priorities into clearly defined initiatives and requirements, and guide capabilities through design, build, testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancement. The role acts as the central business connector across Digital Experience, Advisors, Operations, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Supervision, Compliance, Technology, Tangerine Bank, and other enterprise partners.

  • Platform Roadmap and Product Ownership
    • Partner with the Director & Head, Platform & Products and Program Delivery team to formulate, maintain, and execute the Digital Wealth platform roadmap.
    • Translate business strategy, client and advisor needs, market developments, and regulatory requirements into prioritized platform initiatives.
    • Own the product backlog for assigned capabilities, including scope, requirements, prioritization, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and release readiness.
    • Recommend roadmap sequencing based on client value, strategic alignment, commercial potential, regulatory requirements, delivery complexity, dependencies, and operational readiness.
    • Define clear objectives, business outcomes, and success measures for platform initiatives.
    • Support business cases and investment proposals by articulating the strategic rationale, client benefits, capability requirements, implementation considerations, and expected outcomes.
    • Maintain an integrated view of the roadmap to ensure individual initiatives contribute to a scalable and cohesive Digital Wealth proposition.
  • Platform Capability Development
    • Lead the business definition and delivery of new and enhanced wealth capabilities, including:
      • Self-directed investing and trading
      • Managed investment solutions
      • Multi-currency accounts and foreign exchange
      • Portfolio-based lending
      • Margin accounts
      • Securities lending
      • Direct indexing
      • Tax-loss harvesting
      • Other investments, trading, lending, tax, and portfolio capabilities
    • Define end-to-end capability requirements, including target clients, value proposition, product structure, client journeys, advisor workflows, operational processes, supervision, controls, data, reporting, and servicing.
    • Evaluate business and platform requirements to determine whether they should be addressed through configuration, integration, process design, vendor functionality, or new development.
    • Identify dependencies across account structures, trading, custody, clearing, cash management, credit, tax, market data, reporting, entitlements, and regulatory controls.
    • Ensure capabilities are designed for scalability, operational sustainability, regulatory compliance, and a consistent client and advisor experience.
    • Maintain documentation of platform capabilities, business rules, decisions, configurations, processes, and dependencies.
  • Requirements and Delivery Execution
    • Lead discovery with business, technology, operational, and control stakeholders to define requirements and implementation considerations.
    • Translate strategic concepts into epics, features, business requirements, user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
    • Work closely with Program Delivery, Technology, architecture, design, operations, and vendor teams to clarify requirements and support solution delivery.
    • Participate in backlog refinement, solution reviews, sprint planning, testing, release planning, and implementation readiness.
    • Maintain traceability of business and regulatory requirements through design, build, testing, implementation, and post-launch review.
    • Review proposed solutions to confirm alignment with agreed business outcomes, client journeys, advisor workflows, operational requirements, and controls.
    • Lead business acceptance of delivered capabilities and confirm that requirements and acceptance criteria have been met.
    • Coordinate business readiness across impacted teams, including processes, procedures, training, controls, communications, reporting, and support models.
    • Track delivery progress, milestones, dependencies, decisions, risks, and issues, escalating matters requiring leadership direction.
  • Client & Advisor Experience and Stakeholder Alignment
    • Represent the business perspective in the design of end-to-end client and advisor experiences.
    • Partner with Digital Experience teams to ensure platform capabilities support intuitive, consistent, and accessible digital journeys.
    • Engage Advisors, Operations, Supervision, and servicing teams throughout discovery, design, testing, and implementation.
    • Ensure alignment between client-facing functionality, advisor-assisted experiences, operational fulfilment, supervision, and ongoing servicing.
    • Coordinate stakeholders across Digital Experience, Advisors, Operations, Tier 1 and Tier 2 Supervision, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Technology, Data, Finance, and Tangerine Bank.
    • Establish clear ownership, decision rights, deliverables, dependencies, and escalation paths across participating teams.
    • Partner with Tangerine Bank stakeholders to integrate wealth capabilities with relevant banking products, client journeys, servicing processes, data, and enterprise infrastructure.
    • Present roadmap recommendations, delivery progress, material decisions, dependencies, risks, and outcomes to leadership and governance forums.
    • Influence decisions and create cross-functional alignment without relying on direct authority.
  • Risk, Supervision and Regulatory Alignment
    • Engage Tier 1 and Tier 2 Supervision, Compliance, Risk, Legal, Business Controls, and Operations early in capability planning and design.
    • Translate regulatory, supervisory, suitability, credit, tax, disclosure, recordkeeping, and control requirements into platform and process requirements.
    • Ensure capabilities include appropriate approvals, controls, monitoring, exception handling, record retention, and reporting.
    • Support product and capability assessments required for internal governance, regulatory readiness, and implementation approval.
    • Ensure key requirements, decisions, approvals, and control considerations are documented and traceable.
    • Identify and escalate regulatory, operational, conduct, client, technology, and third-party risks that could affect delivery or ongoing operation.
    • Support audit, compliance, governance, and regulatory reviews by providing relevant product and implementation documentation.
  • Product Performance and Continuous Evolution
    • Define measurable outcomes for platform capabilities, including adoption, client experience, advisor effectiveness, operational performance, revenue, assets, and risk indicators, as applicable.
    • Partner with Data and Business Performance teams to establish reporting and dashboards for roadmap delivery and capability performance.
    • Monitor post-launch performance and use client research, advisor feedback, operational insights, and data to identify opportunities for enhancement.
    • Maintain an enhancement pipeline that balances strategic growth, client experience, regulatory requirements, and platform sustainability.
    • Recommend roadmap adjustments and investment priorities based on performance, business needs, market developments, and emerging opportunities.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in product management, product ownership, wealth management, financial services technology, or platform transformation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex product or platform capabilities from discovery through implementation and ongoing enhancement.
  • Strong knowledge of wealth products, investment accounts, trading, client servicing, advisor workflows, and the end-to-end investment lifecycle.
  • Experience with one or more areas such as self-directed investing, managed solutions, foreign exchange, multi-currency accounts, margin, lending, securities lending, portfolio construction, or tax optimization is preferred.
  • Experience working within a regulated financial institution, investment dealer, wealth platform, or fintech environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy, client needs, and regulatory requirements into roadmaps, requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of Agile product delivery, backlog management, testing, release planning, and implementation readiness.
