Full Job Description
Overview

Atlassian is looking for a Senior Product Marketing Manager to own how we bring our developer platform to market, with primary responsibility for Forge and the broader developer GTM.

This is a hybrid Product Marketing + Developer GTM role. You’ll shape the story for technical products, translate complex capabilities into value developers care about, and build the GTM motions that drive awareness, activation, and adoption.

Your immediate priority will be TEAM for Builders, Atlassian’s Tier 1 event for developers and builders. You’ll own the developer marketing strategy for the event, connecting audience, narrative, launches, programming, acquisition, and post-event activation into a cohesive GTM motion.

You don’t need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable getting technical. You can sit with Product and Engineering to understand an API, developer platform capability, AI workflow, or emerging protocol, then turn around and explain why it matters to a developer and build the GTM around it.

Responsibilities

Developer Platform Positioning

Own positioning, messaging, segmentation, and competitive narrative for Forge and Atlassian’s broader developer platform. Partner deeply with Product and Engineering to translate technical capabilities into compelling developer value and develop a POV on AI-enabled development, extensibility, APIs, MCP, agents, and evolving developer workflows.

TEAM for Builders

Own the developer marketing strategy and GTM for Atlassian’s Tier 1 builder event. Define the audience, narrative, developer journey, launch integration, programming strategy, acquisition, and post-event activation. Partner across Product, Developer Advocacy, Events, Brand, Community, and Ecosystem to make TEAM for Builders a year-round driver of developer engagement, not just an event.

Developer GTM

Own the strategy for reaching, activating, and growing Atlassian developers. Connect launches, events, advocacy, community, content, and growth programs into a cohesive developer journey rather than a series of standalone motions.Launch & Adoption

Lead GTM for major developer and platform launches. The current portfolio includes Studio App Builder GA, Teamwork Graph API GA, Forge App MCP, Forge Remote Agents, Connect retirement, Forge Container Services GA, and Codegeist. Build repeatable launch and adoption motions that turn technical capabilities into clear stories, content, demos, enablement, and campaigns.Developer Growth & Community

Own the marketing strategy across awareness 1 engagement 1 build 1 publish 1 consumption and Marketplace outcomes. Partner with Developer Advocacy, Community, Growth, Marketplace, and Product on programs and experiments that improve developer activation and Forge adoption, including Atlas Camp, Codegeist, developer meetups, and Dev Champions.Cross-Functional Leadership

Serve as a senior marketing partner to Forge and Developer Platform Product leadership. Bring developer and market insight into strategy, align teams around shared priorities, and create clarity around tradeoffs rather than becoming the execution point for every developer marketing request.

Manage AWS MDF investment for Forge and identify opportunities to use partner funding to amplify the broader developer GTM strategy.

What you bring

  • 7+ years across product marketing, developer marketing, developer GTM, platform marketing, integrated marketing, or a combination of these disciplines.

  • Experience marketing technical products such as developer platforms, APIs, developer tools, integrations, cloud infrastructure, or AI products.

  • Enough technical fluency to work credibly with Product and Engineering. You don't need to write production code, but you shouldn't be intimidated by it.

  • Strong positioning and storytelling skills. You can take a complicated technical concept and find the simple, differentiated story underneath it.

  • Experience owning complex launches, developer programs, events, or integrated GTM motions across multiple teams.

  • Ability to operate strategically and execute. You can build the GTM strategy or message house and then roll up your sleeves to ship.

  • Strong cross-functional instincts and comfort operating in ambiguity.

  • A bias toward developer and business outcomes, not just launches, impressions, or event attendance.

What success looks like

In your first year, you’ll have made TEAM for Builders a defining developer moment for Atlassian, established a clearer and more cohesive developer platform story, and connected our launches, events, advocacy, community, and growth programs into a stronger developer GTM motion.

Most importantly, you’ll become a trusted partner to Product and Engineering because you understand the technology, the developer, and the market well enough to help shape the strategy, not just market it after the fact.
