Fulfillment quality is a critical driver of customer satisfaction and retailer trust at Instacart. You will define and deliver the roadmap for Shoppers doing in-store tasks that will enable us to build in-store intelligence to better track inventory, item location and ultimately fulfill orders accurately, efficiently, and at scale.

This role partners closely with a dedicated team of engineers, designers, and data scientists, and will collaborate broadly across Shopper and Logistics teams to drive aligned priorities.

This role sits within the Inventory Intelligence team - responsible for the end-to-end technology that powers inventory and in-store intelligence signals that are used across Instacart's platform and beyond, serving shoppers, retailers, CPGs and customers alike.

You will develop new capabilities and improve existing products to enable high quality and high efficiency data collection that can scale to thousands of stores over the next 2 years.
  • You will own data collection experiences - from how shoppers receive and action tasks in-store, to efficiently collect data for inventory and store maps, monitoring and optimizing this as we scale.
  • You will build deep understanding of shopper workflows and operational pain points to design tools that improve scanning accuracy, speed, and shopper satisfaction
  • You will work closely with retail partners to ensure our tooling integrates naturally into their in-store environments
  • You will partner with enterprise sales and retailer success teams to support partner onboarding, drive adoption of new features, and contribute to shopper, customer and retailer NPS and retention
  • You will define platform solutions that scale across retailer sizes, store formats.
  • You will represent the in-store task roadmap with internal stakeholders and, where relevant, with external partners

About Instacart

Instacart is an American company that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada. The company offers its services via a website and mobile app. The service allows customers to order groceries from participating retailers with the shopping being done by a personal shopper. Instacart was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Apoorva Mehta, a former Amazon.com employee. Apoorva was born in India and moved with his family to Canada in 2000. He studied engineering at the University of Waterloo and graduated in 2008. He was a participant in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch, which eventually led to the creation of Instacart. In 2013, Mehta was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Apoorva previously worked at BlackBerry, Qualcomm, and then Amazon as a supply chain engineer, where he developed fulfillment systems to move packages from Amazon's warehouses to customers' homes. Before founding Instacart, Apoorva had tried to start at least 20 other services. He tried building an ad network for social gaming companies, and developing a social network specifically for lawyers, among other start-ups. Instacart originally launched in San Francisco. By April 2015, the firm had about 200 employees. It introduced a new policy around June allowing some shoppers to choose to be part-time employees, starting with Chicago and Boston and extending its offer to shoppers in Atlanta, Miami, and Washington D.C. the following month.
