Job Description:Position Salary Range:- $95,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience
As a Senior AI Product Manager, you'll lead the strategy, development, and continuous evolution of AI-enabled products that advance LEI's mission. Working across interdisciplinary teams, including research scientists, engineers, UX designers, developers, and data scientists, you'll define product vision, translate research and user insights into product strategy, and deliver data-driven solutions that improve learning experiences and measurable educational outcomes. You'll help shape products that leverage learning analytics, responsible AI, and emerging technologies while supporting LEI's portfolio of strategic, grant-funded research and innovation initiatives.
In this role, you'll help translate groundbreaking, grant-funded research into scalable AI-enabled products. You'll support initiatives exploring large-scale active learning enhanced by generative AI, AI-powered question generation that enables personalized learning pathways and real-time feedback, and privacy-preserving educational data platforms that enable secure AI and learning analytics research using synthetic data. Essential Duties:- Stakeholder Collaboration, Product Strategy, and Prioritization: Build trusted relationships across LEI leadership, principal investigators, learning scientists, engineers, UX designers, data scientists, instructional designers, grant partners, and external collaborators. Translate strategic priorities, grant objectives, learning science research, user needs, and market trends into prioritized product roadmaps, measurable success metrics, and outcome-based investments.
- Product Execution and Delivery: Lead multiple products and initiatives from concept through launch by defining requirements, managing priorities, dependencies, risks, and evolving scope. Drive timely delivery through proactive communication, sound judgment, and accountability for outcomes.
- Customer Discovery and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Synthesize insights from learner research, faculty and partner engagement, learning analytics, and evidence-based research to define product requirements and collaborate across research, engineering, design, and leadership teams to deliver scalable AI-enabled solutions.
- Product Communication, Launch, and Adoption: Communicate product vision, strategy, progress, and impact through presentations, demonstrations, and written materials. Lead varied product launches, develop user guides and training resources, and partner across units to drive adoption through effective communication and change management.
- Experimentation, Measurement, and Continuous Improvement: Define product success through analytics, experimentation, and evidence-based evaluation. Monitor product performance, measure impact and ROI, and use insights to guide continuous product improvement.
- Professional Engagement and Ownership: Demonstrate ownership by driving workstreams to completion, incorporating stakeholder feedback into product decisions, operating effectively in ambiguous environments, and producing clear, concise artifacts that support alignment and informed decision making.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Expertise in product lifecycle management, including product strategy, roadmapping, customer discovery, requirements definition, launch, and continuous iteration.
- Strong understanding of artificial intelligence and generative AI technologies, including concepts such as embeddings, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, evaluation metrics, and the opportunities and limitations of large language models.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams in complex environments.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical and research concepts for various audiences.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with experience using data, experimentation, and evidence-based decision making to guide product strategy and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to staying current with emerging AI technologies and translating new capabilities into innovative product opportunities.
- Proficiency with modern product management and collaboration tools, including Figma, Miro, Asana, Google Workspace, and presentation platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI to improve productivity, foster a positive team culture, uphold organizational values, and contribute to organizational effectiveness.
Desired Qualifications:- Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field and five (5) years experience in product management with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role; OR seven (7) years experience in product management with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role; OR any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Experience managing the rollout, adoption, and change management of AI or enterprise digital products within a university or mission-driven organization.
- Background or training in design, communications, product marketing, or user experience.
- Familiarity with ethical AI principles and frameworks, particularly in higher education or public sector settings.
- Experience working in matrixed or distributed organizations where collaboration, influence, and relationship building are essential.
- Experience with open-source AI solutions, education technology platforms, or public engagement tools.
- Demonstrated commitment to ASU's Charter through advancing, belonging, empathy, psychological safety, sustainability, and collaborative leadership.
Working Environment:The Learning Engineering Institute is housed on the Tempe Campus of ASU near downtown Tempe. Arizona State University is located in the Phoenix/Scottsdale metropolitan area and offers all of the amenities of a large urban/winter resort area.
Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of a desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
