Job Description:

Caterpillar is advancing a portfolio of integrated technologies that drive productivity outcomes across construction and mining operations. Within Integrated Technology Solutions (ITS), we are seeking a Senior Product Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for driving improvements in our Surface, Payload, and Operator capabilities.

In this role, you will lead a team that bridges onboard and back-office engineering to evolve these technologies and ensure they meet customer and business needs. The role will work across onboard engineering, cloud/platform teams, product management, and validation organizations to drive product evolution.  You will be accountable for driving the effectiveness and continuous improvement of product capabilities that align with real world workflows improve operational efficiency and deliver measurable jobsite outcomes.

What You Will Do:

  • Accountable for end to end performance of productivity technologies that drive customer success and value realization.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for the Productivity portfolio (Surface, Payload, Operator), building strong domain expertise and a customer focused culture.
  • Define team direction, priorities, and execution focus aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives.
  • Drive integration across onboard and offboard systems, ensuring seamless capability development across machine, site, and cloud solutions.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams (onboard and back office) to shape and prioritize enhancements.
  • Ensure product capabilities meet customer needs and drive measurable productivity outcomes, leveraging field, customer, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Define and track success metrics to ensure delivered capabilities achieve targeted productivity improvements.
  • Identify gaps in current capabilities and lead future investments.
  • Establish best practices for capability definition, validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and delivery of integrated solutions.

  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Customer/Market Focus: Understanding of the importance of remaining aware of shifting market priorities and ability to respond to internal and external customer needs in a manner that consistently adds value.
  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to lead successful teams and diligently address issues related to performance and conflicts at the workplace.
  • Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.
  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

  • Strong understanding of construction or mining operations with a focus on productivity outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment across hardware, software, and cloud teams.

  • Experience driving product or capability evolution through customer validation and field deployment cycles
  • Experience with Grade control, Payload systems, or Operator technologies.
  • Experience integrating onboard systems with enterprise/cloud platforms.
  • Experience translating customer needs into technical requirements.
  • Track record of delivering customer-facing technology improvements at scale.

Additional Details:

  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available with this position.
  • This position will require up to 20% travel

 

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
