The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and lifecycle management of security equipment, including surveillance trailers, equipment enclosures, and related products.

This role requires a strong mechanical design background and practical experience integrating low-voltage electrical equipment into manufactured products. The Senior Product Engineer will lead products from concept and prototyping through manufacturing, deployment, field support, and continuous improvement, while maintaining CAD models, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and revision-controlled documentation.

  • Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of new and existing security equipment.
  • Own the mechanical design of surveillance trailers, equipment enclosures, cabinets, mounting systems, and internal equipment layouts.
  • Create and maintain CAD models, assemblies, production drawings, specifications, bills of materials, installation documentation, and revision-controlled product records.
  • Integrate low-voltage electrical equipment, batteries, solar components, generators, cameras, networking equipment, and related systems into product designs.
  • Lead prototyping, testing, validation, first-article builds, pilot production, and production release.
  • Work with manufacturing teams, fabricators, suppliers, and outsourced partners to evaluate materials and processes, resolve production issues, and improve quality, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Develop product design standards and best practices using feedback from manufacturing, installation, service, and field teams.
  • Investigate field failures, implement corrective actions and retrofit solutions, and manage engineering changes.
  • Ensure designs account for durability, weather resistance, transportation, installation, maintenance, service access, and field conditions.
  • Support product rollouts, field deployments, installation teams, and key accounts as a senior technical resource


  • Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education and experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Product Design, Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical environment.
  • Experience independently owning product designs from concept through production and field support.
  • Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks, including parts, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience designing fabricated products, enclosures, frames, mounting systems, or towable equipment.
  • Experience integrating low-voltage DC and AC equipment into manufactured products.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and revision-controlled documentation.
  • Experience working with manufacturing teams, fabricators, suppliers, and outsourced partners.
  • Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability, design for assembly, tolerances, materials, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to evaluate technical issues, develop practical solutions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with some or most of the following would be considered an asset:
  • Mechanical design of trailers, towable equipment, mobile platforms, outdoor products, or fabricated steel and aluminum assemblies.
  • Solar, battery, gasoline-generator, propane-generator, or other off-grid power systems.
  • Low-voltage system design, wiring, component selection, power budgeting, and troubleshooting.
  • Batteries, solar panels, charge controllers, inverters, generators, and power-distribution equipment.
  • IP cameras, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, networking equipment, or other electronic security systems.
  • Product testing, prototype validation, first-article inspection, and production release.
  • Networking, Linux, Python, scripting, serial communications, Modbus, or CAN bus.
  • UL requirements, product certification, electrical codes, and other regulatory or safety standards.
