Full Job Description
This position reports to:
Vice President, Product Management

Working as a Industrial Segment Product Director, you will be leading a product management team that defines marketing and strategy plans and multi-generational product development plans, including marketing communication, training and sales initiatives for the Utility segment, and be a key leader of the marketing and sales team in Electrification Installation Products.

Reporting to the ELIP Product & Marketing VP, you will lead the Industrial segment product management team and oversee all steps in the life cycle of products, systems or services, including development, launch, maintenance, pricing and profitability of identified ELIP Industrial product lines in North America.

Candidates for this position are preferred to work a Hybrid schedule out of our Memphis, TN office or open to remote candidates with ability to travel. #LI-Remote

Key responsibilities for the Position:
  • Develop, update and drive the industry segment strategy based on customer VOC and market trends to meet divisional requirements and implements with country specific action plans and forward looking product plans. Leads the definition of the industry group footprint (market presence, execution standards and delivery model).
  • Responsible for maximizing Gross Margin dollars for the identified ELIP product segment, optimizing the price/margin/share/sales equation
  • Defines key targets (e.g. volume, prices, portfolio mix) and ensures these are achieved for the segment(s). Identifies key market segments and market trends. Ensures detailed business/sales plans are in place with regular follow up. Drives both top line sales and bottom line margin growth in each target industry segment.
  • Oversees inventory levels and sales volumes to ensure ability to meet customer orders, while tracking and analyzing the performance and trends of ELIP industry segment. Identifies and leads portfolio mix management opportunities
  • Leads and develops industry segment product management team, collaborates closely with R&D to propose and evaluate product feasibility projects and roadmaps, including Multi-Generational Product Plans for ELIP industry products
  • Understands and manages ELIP Industrial segment P&L; leads improvement thru margin growth and cost improvement activities
  • Identifies segment portfolio M&A opportunities
  • Ensures ABB's value proposition for the target segment is developed and well communicated (internally and externally).
  • Guides, coaches and develops the skills and knowledge of the product and sales teams.
  • Actively participates in the development of international standards and regulations by identifying and influencing the appropriate external bodies (including government, legislative bodies, technical and trade associations).
  • Identifies and manages risk relating to contract agreements and prices across segments.
  • Creates development plans for Industrial segment ELIP product management team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional development to enhance individual and team capabilities.
  • Strengthen organizational bench strength by proactively identifying, nurturing, and retaining top talent across all levels of the organization.
  • Partners closely with the HR team to ensure that the ELIP industry segment product team is properly organized, staffed and directed


Qualifications for the Position:
  • A BS in Electrical Engineering, Engineering or equivalent required. MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of experience in Product Development and/or Sales in Industrial related markets, with Electrical products related experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership of product development teams, including leading cross functional teams
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in Industrial and Electrical markets; experience in specific ELIP Industrial products preferred
  • Demonstrated experience of managing marketing and sales strategies
  • Knowledge and experience of SFDC and SAP
  • A collaborative, solution-focused approach, with strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Job location: Preference Memphis, TN or Remote
  • Ability to travel 40%
  • Candidates must already possess authorization to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $163,500 and $261,600 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
