About the job

Android, Business, and Communications (ABC) is at the core of how people and businesses connect across the globe. Our mission is to build the world's most helpful, expressive, and secure communication experiences. With nearly 2 billion active users on Google Messages and nearly 1 billion using the Phone app (Dialer), we ship products that make a meaningful difference in lives worldwide.

We define standard-setting "toothbrush journeys"-from fundamental calling reliability to high-resolution media sharing and expressive reactions. Beyond peer-to-peer connection, we are pioneering the next generation of conversational commerce, enabling businesses to deliver app-like experiences directly within the messaging interface. Whether adapting mobile features for a multi-device world on Wear OS or driving engagement with best-in-world features like Call Screen, we focus on high-impact innovation that connects everyone, regardless of their device.

As a Data Scientist for Android & Business Communication (ABC), you will deliver critical insights, predictive models, and measurement frameworks to protect users across Rich Communication Services (RCS) and RCS Business Messaging (RBM) from spam, abuse, and malicious traffic.

In this role, you will analyze complex, large-scale communication data to identify emerging abuse vectors, model adversarial behaviors, and guide product and engineering teams on anti-spam and trust and safety strategies. You will bridge technical rigor and product execution by designing end-to-end classification and detection pipelines, running robust offline and online evaluations, and translating complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations that safeguard ecosystem trust and enhance the messaging experience globally.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) 15% bonus target equity benefits

  • Conduct exploratory data analyses on evolving adversarial behaviors in conversational messaging and present technical insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
