Responsibilities

The Senior Product Cost Analyst serves as a valued business partner with strong business acumen who develops labor and overhead rates to establish accurate cost foundations. This role applies financial expertise to costing data and uses these rates—along with labor estimates, tooling, and capital expenditures—to develop and communicate precise product costs supporting customer quotations for new products and engineering changes. The analyst analyzes complex BOMs and manufacturing processes, communicates cost drivers, assumptions, and implications organization-wide, and partners cross-functionally to educate teams on product cost structure. Collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Assembly.  Running scenario analysis changing for various cost and pricing options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops labor and overhead rates while partnering cross-functionally to educate teams on product cost structure.
  • Applies financial expertise to costing data and communicates cost drivers, assumptions, and implications organization-wide.
  • Analyzes complex Bills of Materials (BOMs) to develop accurate product costs, including raw materials, purchased parts, labor, overhead, tooling, and capital for new programs and engineering changes.
  • Builds and analyzes financial models incorporating price/cost sensitivity analysis.
  • Serves as a valued business partner to Sales and Product Line Managers, contributing to pricing strategies that secure new business.
  • Delivers comprehensive customer quote packages, including piece prices, tooling breakdowns, and price walks from current to future states.
  • Tracks program margins from launch to completion, ensuring alignment with quote targets.
  • Partners with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, Assembly, and other departments to explain product costs, identify savings opportunities, and drive cost reductions.
  • Develops and maintains sales forecasts and budgets for assigned products.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Four-year college technical degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 6-10 years of experience in product costing in manufacturing
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (financial modeling, pivot tables, index-match).
  • Strong financial and analytical skills (e.g., make-vs-buy analysis, net present value)
  • Strong communication skills, including executive presentations
  • Proven interpersonal and teamwork abilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in product costing in automotive industry
  • Foreign language skills in Spanish
