In this role, you will own analytics for Flock's Spot Pricing product, partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineering, and business stakeholders to solve complex business problems and influence product strategy through data.

This is a highly consultative role for someone who enjoys translating ambiguous business questions into structured analyses, uncovering actionable insights, and driving measurable business impact. You'll work with a high degree of autonomy, proactively identifying analytical opportunities, improving pricing performance, and influencing product decisions rather than simply responding to predefined requests.

Responsibilities
  • Own analytics for Flock's Spot Pricing product, partnering closely with Product Managers to evaluate pricing performance, analyze win rates, identify pricing opportunities, and influence product roadmap decisions through data-driven recommendations.
  • Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analyses that drive actionable recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy by proactively identifying analytical opportunities rather than waiting for predefined requests.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and business stakeholders throughout product planning and execution.
  • Partner with Product Management to define, measure, report on, and visualize product KPIs and OKRs.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, analytical models, and reporting tools that enable data-driven decision making.
  • Perform approximately 5-10 high-impact analyses each month to prioritize product enhancements, validate hypotheses, measure feature impact, and identify new opportunities.
  • Design and support experimentation efforts, including MVP validation, A/B testing, KPI development, and impact measurement.
  • Present analytical findings and recommendations to Product Managers and business stakeholders in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
  • Create clear and informative visualizations from complex, multidimensional datasets, including geographic and event-based data.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and data pipelines that power reporting, analytics, and business insights.
  • Execute data manipulation, visualization, and statistical analysis using Python or similar programming languages when appropriate.
  • Participate in interviewing and evaluating prospective team members.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to newer members of the analytics team.

What You'll Do
  • Analyzing pricing performance and shipment win rates.
  • Evaluating customer behavior and pricing trends.
  • Measuring the impact of pricing changes and new product features.
  • Designing and evaluating A/B tests.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve pricing strategy through data.
  • Recommending product enhancements based on analytical findings.
  • Building dashboards and visualizations that help Product teams monitor business performance.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Product Analytics, Pricing Analytics, Marketplace Analytics, Business Analytics, or a similar analytical role supporting product and business decision-making.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency is required. This role relies heavily on SQL for complex analysis, data validation, and answering high-impact business questions. Candidates should be comfortable independently writing, debugging, and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with business intelligence and visualization platforms such as Tableau, Looker, Sigma, Mode, or similar tools.
  • Experience with experimentation methodologies, including MVP validation, A/B testing, KPI development, impact measurement, and hypothesis testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguous business problems and independently determine the best analytical approach.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex analyses and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing initiatives and consistently deliver high-quality analytical work.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or statistical modeling.
  • Experience with statistical analysis techniques.
  • Exposure to machine learning concepts or predictive analytics.
  • Experience working in Agile product development environments.
  • Experience with freight, logistics, transportation, or two-sided marketplace businesses.
