CBC is currently seeking a Senior Producer to lead CBC Life, Canada’s national lifestyle platform. This is a one-year contract position.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, Digital, Unscripted Content, and under the overall authority of management, you are responsible for leading a team in the planning, conception, gathering, and production of content, as well as the editorial direction and digital publishing across all our pillars: food, home, style, wellness, work and money, culture, travel and pets. You will plan, direct, and co-ordinate the work of others; play a critical role in managing the performance of team members, including the performance review process; oversee team development; and ensure the team is meeting its objectives.

As a Senior Producer, you’re a talented storyteller and a lifestyle obsessive, with a track record of creating timely, inventive and engaging multi-platform content in a deadline-driven environment. You bring experience across multiple formats, including short- and long-form written content for articles and social platforms, as well as short- and long-form video. You have a strong understanding of both video series and creator-led content, with experience from concept to publication. You’re also a natural and experienced leader, able to collaborate and bring out the best in your team while remaining focused on larger strategic objectives.

You must balance a senior leadership role that includes an accountability to achieve platform goals and objectives, with the continuous requirement to focus on details of a platform to ensure that content is of the highest quality and conforms to CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices. You must be able to make immediate decisions in complex and stressful environments, and lead staff in the use of production techniques and procedures consistent with an integrated content company.

As a digital publishing leader, you are comfortable using data to inform your editorial decisions and are sensitive to the ever-changing tides of online attention without compromising your strong story judgement. You’re able to juggle multiple priorities and to respond to competing demands in a short space of time while keeping your team focused on its goals. And you are a strong advocate for inclusion in your work and in the people you work with.
