Overview

Love solving complex problems, improving processes, and turning data into action? As our Senior Process Engineer, you'll play a key role in bringing innovative products from concept to production. From launching new manufacturing processes to optimizing existing ones, you'll be the technical expert who helps ensure our products are built with quality, efficiency, and reliability at every step.

In this role, you'll combine engineering expertise, curiosity, and continuous improvement thinking to tackle tough challenges, drive yield improvements, lead root cause investigations, and help shape the future of our electronics manufacturing operations.

This role is hybrid, based in our Niles, IL location.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of industry-standard equipment, custom automation, and manufacturing technologies and processes for future manufacturing systems. Defines and validates manufacturing process parameters, process windows, and production readiness requirements using methods such as pilot builds, first article builds, capability studies, and production readiness reviews
  • Leads the development and implementation of technologies and processes that improve product quality, decrease cycle times, simplify workflow, improve worker safety, and/or improve manufacturing effects on the environment for existing manufactured products.
  • Works with product design and development personnel to ensure that manufacturing processes and product designs are compatible by providing DFA (Design for Assembly) input.
  • Specifies, qualifies, commissions, and transfers manufacturing equipment, tooling, fixtures, verification systems, and automation through supplier collaboration, FAT/SAT activities, installation support, and documented handoff to production
  • Uses data-driven methods including SPC, DOE, Cpk/Ppk analysis, FPY/yield analysis, cycle-time analysis, and OEE/UPH metrics to identify process variation and drive measurable improvements
  • Conceives and plans projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, equipment automation technology, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved manufacturing processes.


Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering. Mechanical, and/or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience
  • Proven record of competence in an engineering discipline with Project leadership experience desired.
  • Management presentation skills and experience.
  • Preferred English (reading and writing) skills. Spanish or Mandarin would be helpful.
  • Travel for project work - both local and to sites in Mexico & China (>10%).
  • Experience with general office computer tools (word processing, spreadsheets, and office communications).
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing processes such as adhesive dispense, press fit, laser marking, soldering, cable and electro-mechanical assembly, vision system inspection, and rework processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of process validation and production qualification methods including pilot builds, first article builds, production readiness reviews, capability studies, and GR&R preferred.
  • Proficiency with statistical and continuous improvement tools including SPC, DOE, Cpk/Ppk, FPY/yield analysis, scrap and rework reduction, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving preferred.
  • Experience developing and maintaining manufacturing documentation including PFMEAs, process specifications, work instructions, and training materials desired.
