Purpose:The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes across optical fiber and cable production operations. This role focuses on improving process capability, product quality, yield, throughput, material utilization, and overall operational efficiency while ensuring strict adherence to safety, and quality. The position serves as a technical authority within assigned process areas and plays a key role in driving continuous improvement, supporting new products, process, and equipment introductions.
Key Responsibilities:• Lead equipment design, integration, debug, improvement, and qualification, and execute end to end process optimization initiatives in a fiber optic cable manufacturing plant; to include leading new product introductions, material trials, and process development activities from pilot through full production scale up.
• Collaborate with vendors' technical team(s) to design, improve mechanical designs of new equipment involving automation.
• Analyze manufacturing parameters to improve yield and process capability.
• Lead mechanistic understanding of manufacturing and equipment-related issues using structured root cause analysis methodologies.
• Provide technical leadership, training, and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and operators; serve as subject matter expert for assigned process areas.
• Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, R&D, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to improve reliability, process capability, and manufacturability.
Working Conditions/Travel Requirements/Hours of work• This position is based in a manufacturing environment with regular floor presence and requires adherence to PPE and safety procedures.
• Extended hours or travel may be necessary during critical production, troubleshooting, supplier, or benchmarking
• Up to 25% to various manufacturing sites in the division
• 8-10 hours/day; 40-50 hours/week.
Qualifications & Experience:• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process engineering within optical fiber, telecom cable, polymer extrusion, specialty cable, or related high speed manufacturing environments.
• 3+ years of experience with equipment design, automation, robotics, PLC's, HMI's, servo motors, material handling
• 1+ years of experience of cable manufacturing processes, extrusion technologies, material behavior, and process control systems.
• Certification of practical knowledge in Lean, Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, CAPA, 8D, and capability analysis tools.
• 1 year of experience Data analytics (e.g., Power-Bi, JMP, etc.)

This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $97,286.00 - $133,768.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
