Senior Principal, Cyber Regulatory Intelligence & AI Governance

PURPOSE

The Senior Director of Regulatory Intelligence & AI Governance will lead Bayer's enterprise capability for translating evolving regulatory requirements into actionable governance, policy, control, and AI assurance frameworks. This leader will establish a future-state "agentic governance" model that continuously monitors regulatory change, assesses impact, and orchestrates compliance activities across IT, Cyber Security, Digital, Data, and AI domains.

The role serves as Bayer's strategic authority on cyber, technology, AI, and digital regulatory intelligence while enabling proactive risk management and audit readiness.

This role will be located in Washington, DC. Remote working arrangements will not be accommodated.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regulatory Intelligence Leadership
  • Monitor and analyze global cyber, AI, privacy, digital resilience, and technology regulations.
  • Develop a continuous regulatory intelligence capability using automation and AI.
  • Translate requirements into actionable policies, standards, and control frameworks.
  • Advise executives on emerging regulatory risks and strategic implications.


AI Governance
  • Establish governance frameworks for AI systems and agentic technologies.
  • Define guardrails for trustworthy, explainable, and responsible AI.
  • Partner with legal, risk, compliance, and technology leaders to operationalize governance.
  • Oversee AI assurance and compliance reporting.


Assurance & Compliance Strategy
  • Drive enterprise compliance readiness for evolving regulations.
  • Coordinate evidence, control mapping, and compliance automation.
  • Lead engagement with internal audit and external regulators.


Leadership
  • Build and lead a high-performing regulatory intelligence organization.
  • Drive executive reporting and strategic planning.
  • Influence enterprise-wide decision making.


WHO YOU ARE:

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in cyber security, technology risk, governance, compliance, and/or regulatory affairs;
  • Experience leading global governance programs;
  • Knowledge of NIST, ISO 27001, DORA, NIS2, AI Act, SOX, GDPR, and related regulations;
  • Experience briefing executive leadership.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience implementing AI governance programs;
  • Background in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or highly regulated industries;
  • Advanced degree in technology, law, risk management, or cybersecurity.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $ 177,440 - $266,160. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
