Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Power BI Developer with a strong background in SQL, data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics, and enterprise reporting systems. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc queries, along with expertise in data modeling, DAX, and relational databases. The role also requires strong collaboration with business users and the ability to analyze requirements, provide recommendations, and deliver effective solutions. This position is hybrid in New York City, NY, with three days per week in the office. An in-person interview is required.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc queries.
• Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and deliver effective reporting and analytics solutions.
• Develop and optimize data models using Power Query and Power Pivot.
• Develop and optimize DAX queries.
• Create reports using Power BI Report Builder and/or Paginated Reports.
• Manage and query SQL Server and other relational databases.
• Analyze user requirements and provide recommendations for effective technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot reporting and data-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Manage project activities throughout the full project lifecycle from inception through deployment.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deliverables effectively.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with relational and multi-dimensional (OLAP) data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics, and enterprise reporting systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Power BI dashboard and report development.
• Proficiency in data modeling using Power Query and Power Pivot.
• Strong expertise in DAX.
• Strong experience with Power BI Report Builder and/or Paginated Reports.
• Excellent SQL skills, particularly with SQL Server or similar relational databases.
• Experience with SQL query optimization and relational and dimensional database structures.
• Experience working with Databricks.
• Experience working in financial services, specifically Fixed Income, Equity, and Derivative businesses.
• Strong business analysis skills with the ability to understand and translate user requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing full project lifecycles from inception through deployment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
• Working knowledge of Data Flows.
• Experience with Power BI Report Server (PBRS).
• Familiarity with Power On.
• Experience with Snowflake data warehouse.
