Who we're looking for

Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Senior Engineer focused on DevOps.

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Compute Device Engineering, Compliance, & Global Collaboration, the person in this role will join the Cybersecurity, Systems, & Resilience team to build and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure and systems.

The Senior Engineer will manage the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure within an organization, including the physical network (e.g., LANs/WANs, servers, terminals) as well as server applications and software (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle). Additionally, the Senior Engineer will configure, install, maintain and upgrade server applications and hardware.

What you'll be doing

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnering:
  • Leads mid-size infrastructure projects across multiplatform environments (Windows, Linux, Unix), from development through implementation, ensuring measurable progress and alignment with company objectives
  • Supports management with value-added research, analysis, and recommendations to improve system resilience and scalability, contributing to informed decision-making processes


Architectural & Technical Strategy:
  • Assists in the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure systems, with a focus on automation, virtualization, and fault tolerance
  • Supports the adoption of automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to drive system reliability and resilience


Problem Solving & Methodology:
  • Implements monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) to enhance system performance and preemptively address issues


Leadership & Development:
  • Provides subject matter expertise and functional content knowledge to teams, supporting the development and implementation of automation and scalability initiatives


What you bring

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent years of experience


Experience / Technical Skills:
  • 4-5+ years of experience in System Administration, with a focus on multiplatform environments, automation, and virtualization


Technical Expertise:
  • Virtualization & Cloud: Experience with virtualization platforms (Nutanix / AHV, Hyper-V) and cloud services (AWS, Azure)
  • Automation & Scripting: Expertise in automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Containerization & Orchestration: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for managing scalable, resilient systems
  • Security: Knowledge of infrastructure security best practices, including patch management, system hardening, and network security
  • Monitoring & Observability: Familiarity with tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack for system monitoring and observability
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI


Added bonus if you have
  • Experience with AI Factory platforms, federated learning, or edge AI model lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus) and manufacturing IT environments.
  • Advanced degrees (Master's or higher) in these fields or specialized areas like Cloud Computing, Data Science, or AI/ML can be advantageous but are not explicitly required.
  • Certifications in cloud architecture (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Expert) or Kubernetes (Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD))
