Job PurposeThe Voya Investment Management (Voya IM) Mortgage Derivatives Team manages approximately $6 billion across a number of portfolios. Its flagship, the Voya Mortgage Investment Fund, is one of the largest and most well-recognized hedge funds in the mortgage space, run by a deep, tenured team with more than three decades of track record. The team also manages proprietary and external client capital across insurance, real money, and other institutional mandates. Rooted in mortgage derivatives and prepayment-sensitive assets, the team's investment toolkit spans liquid agency MBS, CMO structuring and arbitrage, credit risk transfers, mortgage servicing rights, and non-agency MBS. The team operates as a levered, total-return strategy serving a diverse client base.
As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will be a key contributor to the overall performance of the team and help drive superior results, with an initial focus on liquid agency MBS. The successful candidate brings substantial investment experience and a demonstrated track record, buy-side or sell-side. Level, title, and compensation are shaped around the candidate's experience and track record. Pay is weighted toward incentive and tied to the investment results.
Please Note: This will be an office centric role and will be based in our Atlanta, GA office.
Key Responsibilities- Take initiative as an individual risk-taker to generate, size, and execute investment strategies within securitized products in the context of levered, total-return portfolios, with an initial focus on liquid agency MBS.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate individual views into portfolio-level positioning, contributing to and benefiting from the team's collective expertise and analytical infrastructure.
- Bring new ideas, perspectives, tools, and markets to the team; the strongest candidates challenge our thinking, look at problems through a novel lens, and are unafraid to be contrarian.
- Present to clients and senior management, articulate the investment strategy of the portfolios, build and maintain client relationships, and help grow the business.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree with material investment experience and a demonstrated track record, either buy-side or sell-side; advanced degree, MBA, and/or CFA a plus.
- Working knowledge of structured mortgages, mortgage prepayments, OAS modeling, and related markets such as rates, credit, or derivatives; deeper expertise in any subset of securitized products is welcome.
- Excellent intellectual capacity with strong skills in generating ideas and conducting research; confidence to make judgments regarding structure, risk, and valuation; a proactive, can-do attitude undaunted by ambiguity and focused on adding value beyond a strict job definition.
- Excellent organizational and communication ability; strong written and oral presentation capabilities; exemplary interpersonal and client-facing skills.
- Values consistent with Voya's, including strong ethics and integrity, accountability, teamwork, and passion for the client.
