THE PURPOSE:Planning at True Religion is where financial discipline meets product instinct. As a Senior Planner, you own the numbers and the strategy behind them. You build the OTB, set the assortment direction, and hold the financial plan accountable from season kickoff through final markdown. You move fast, think a season ahead, and keep every stakeholder informed and aligned.
THE ROLE (what you are accountable for):• Own the Open-to-Buy Process: Lead the creation, maintenance, and ongoing updates of the OTB across assigned channels. Partner with management and finance to tie all forecasting to company-wide goals and ensure full accountability against financial targets.
• Drive Sales and Margin Performance: Take ownership of hitting sales and margin goals across your business. Monitor performance daily and weekly to identify trends, capture opportunities, and proactively minimize risk before it impacts the broader organization.
• Develop Seasonal Buy and Assortment Strategies: Build seasonal buy strategies and assortment plans by product category. Partner closely with the buying team to project product potential and lifecycle, using historical data and trend analysis to set benchmarks for growth, maintenance, or declining categories.
• Lead Cross-Functional Financial Alignment: At the department and class level, partner with merchandising to ensure financial objectives align with product opportunities. Communicate risks and opportunities to key business partners including merchandising, finance, marketing, and brand leadership.
• Manage Pricing, Promotions, and Markdown Strategy: Maintain pricing and promotional files. Identify pricing and transfer opportunities based on performance and intended lifecycle. Monitor inventory and markdown levels to ensure target weeks-on-hand are maintained and markdowns move through at a profitable pace.
• Support Cross-Channel Execution: Collaborate with channel partners to ensure promotions are executed correctly, product strategies support all promotional activity, and marketing efforts are aligned to achieve financial sales goals.
• Run Weekly Reporting and Chase Analysis: Lead weekly reporting, analyze results to identify trends, and communicate chase opportunities to the buying team. Partner with production as needed to ensure delivery dates are on track to support business needs.
• Mentor and Develop Junior Team Members: Provide guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to Associate and Assistant Planners. Help build team capability in OTB management, data analysis, and cross-functional communication.
YOU ARE:You bring a strong combination of merchandise planning expertise and analytical rigor, with a proven track record in Open-to-Buy management, inventory turn, and gross margin optimization. You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, take ownership of your forecasts and financial outcomes, and approach challenges with both data-driven precision and a sharp commercial instinct. You thrive in ambiguity, communicate proactively with business partners, and bring a genuine passion for product and trend. You are also a natural collaborator and people developer who takes pride in helping others grow alongside the business.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:• 6+ years of planning experience at a Specialty Retailer, Department Store, or comparable retail organization
• Cross-channel planning experience, including ownership of OTB and assortment planning across brick-and-mortar and/or digital channels
• Proven Open-to-Buy, inventory turn, and gross margin experience with demonstrated financial accountability
• Experience mentoring or managing junior planners in a team environment
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data modeling
• Knowledge of production flow, operations, and retail calendar management
• Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, or a related field
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• Background in fashion, apparel, or lifestyle retail with a keen eye for trend analysis
ADDITIONAL ROLE INFORMATION:- Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $125,000. This is a full-time, exempt position. This range represents the low and high end of the expected base salary range for this role based on the applicable location. True Religion reasonably expects to pay within this range in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity.
