Enbridge Gas Ohio is looking for a Senior Pipeline Materials Engineer to join our Engineering Technical Services team. This team supports the safe and reliable operation of our natural gas system. This role suits an experienced engineer eager to broaden their influence by applying advanced expertise in pipeline materials, integrity, and standards. You will solve complex problems and support important infrastructure projects. You will also have a vital role in crafting engineering practices, collaborating with various teams, and driving solutions that improve system performance, safety, and compliance throughout Ohio.

What You Will Do:
  • Lead selection, specification, and qualification of materials for natural gas transmission and distribution pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain material standards and specifications aligned with industry codes and company requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise in pipeline materials performance, including defect and failure assessment.
  • Support pipeline build, construction, and maintenance projects with material-related engineering decisions and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with operations, integrity management, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with federal and state pipeline safety requirements.
  • Evaluate new materials, technologies, and coatings to improve pipeline durability, safety, and lifecycle performance.


Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Currently hold a Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation or the ability to acquire one is preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering principles, including applying and adapting theories, techniques, and practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with ability to interpret codes, regulations, and perform complex calculations using tools (e.g., Matlab, Excel).
  • Effective communication with strong technical writing skills; able to mentor and guide less experienced engineers.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks with strong planning, organizational, and project management skills in both independent and team environments.


Physical Demands (Include but are not limited to):

Grasping, kneeling, and lifting objects weighing up to 20 pounds are required. The role also involves reaching above shoulder height, repetitive motions, typing, sitting, and standing. Visual abilities include seeing screens, recognizing color codes, and reading fine print. Hearing and prolonged computer use are also necessary.

Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral or written instructions or information. Understand complex problems and explore alternative solutions collaboratively. Coordinate thoughts and ideas into clear terminology. Prioritize and coordinate work schedule on a short-term basis. Make decisions with moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor their effects beyond this area. Follow basic instructions and guidelines. Complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and basic reports. Communicate with individuals by telephone.

Salary:
  • Ranges from $96,000 - $135,000 USD for US locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
