Job DescriptionAbout the PositionWe are seeking an experienced and motivated
Senior PFAS LC-MS/MS Analyst to join our growing environmental laboratory team. This role is responsible for the technical leadership of PFAS analytical operations, including sample preparation, method development, instrument troubleshooting, data review, quality control, and training of laboratory personnel.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation, environmental laboratory operations, and PFAS analytical methods. This position offers an opportunity to play a key role in expanding PFAS capabilities while ensuring the highest standards of data quality and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Perform PFAS analysis on environmental samples including drinking water, groundwater, wastewater, soil, sediment, and biosolids.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
- Perform and oversee SPE and other extraction procedures.
- Review chromatographic data, calibrations, isotope recoveries, and quality control results.
- Conduct Level II and technical data review to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Lead method development, optimization, validation, and implementation projects.
- Investigate analytical issues and implement corrective actions.
- Train and mentor analysts and laboratory technicians.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and technical documentation.
- Participate in proficiency testing, internal audits, and accreditation assessments.
- Collaborate with laboratory management to improve workflow, productivity, and quality systems.
- Maintain compliance with EPA methods, NELAP, ISO 17025, and DoD accreditation requirements.
Required SkillsQualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of analytical laboratory experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on LC-MS/MS experience.
- Experience with environmental sample preparation and extraction techniques.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred- Direct experience with PFAS analysis.
- Experience with EPA 1633, EPA 533, EPA 537.1, ASTM, or DoD PFAS methods.
- Experience with method development and validation.
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Previous experience training and supervising laboratory personnel.
