Snowflake is looking for a motivated Senior Payroll Analyst to join the team. We're seeking someone who is versatile, motived, creative, intellectually curious, and who is a strong communicator and analytical collaborator. This position can be based in Dublin, CA or Menlo Park, CA.

Reporting into the Payroll Manager, your main responsibility is to ensure accurate, timely payroll delivery with a focus on benefits and leave-related items. You will provide ideas and help brainstorm on process standardization, automation, and improvement in all aspects of payroll to ensure their scalability and continuing effectiveness amid all the changes that Snowflake has been undergoing. You are good at creating and maintaining robust process documentation. You adhere to the internal controls as specified by Company policies. You are expected to collaborate with cross functional business partners. Responsibilities
  • Own payroll processing for employee benefits, including but not limited to Section 125 Cafeteria Plan items, short & long-term disability insurance, and other pre & post tax deductions.
  • Manage payroll impacts related to leave of absences (FMLA, parental, medical, military), including pay calculations, benefits continuation, coordination with leave vendors, and employee reinstatements.
  • Lead key payroll reviews, audits, and reconciliations related to benefits and leave (401k, HSA/FSA, etc)
  • Ensure timely and accurate funding of employee contributions to HSA/FSA,and 401k plans.
  • Work with the GL team in payroll reconciliations and investigate variances in a timely manner. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities related to payroll and benefits.
  • Support high-volume payroll processing with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and employee experience.
  • Partner closely with other functional teams (e.g. HR, Stock Administration, People Operations, Benefits, Legal and accounting) to streamline cross-functional processes
  • Recognizing opportunities and recommending process improvements also involves assisting with the design and implementation of internal control measures to ensure proper payment authorizations and segregation of duties.
  • Providing excellent payroll support to employees and cross-functional teams by addressing inquiries, concerns, and requests timely.
  • Providing standard and ad-hoc payroll reports as needed by various internal departments such as Finance, Accounting, Legal, Benefits, and People Operations.
  • Creating and/or maintaining payroll documentation as it relates to processing, operational procedures, compliance, and other payroll-related matters.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's / master's degree in business, Finance, or Accounting
  • US Payroll experience a must
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant and progressive payroll experience with strong hands-on expertise in benefits and leave-related payroll; public company payroll experience required
  • Hands-on experience working on Workday Payroll and/or ADP WorkforceNow.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly proficient in various applications such as Microsoft Excel (Pivots, V/H Lookups) and Google Suite apps (e.g. Google Sheets) and experience working with large data sets
  • Familiarity with Workday HCM and Workday Financials is a plus
  • Understanding of accounting, taxation, and finance concepts as it relates to payroll
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of payroll-related compliance requirements
  • Adaptable to a fast-changing work environment; able to deliver accurate and on-time payroll regardless of the circumstances
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to manage through change and to lead change when appropriate
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude
  • Good command on English speaking and writing
