About the role

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Senior Payroll Analyst will be responsible for entering and reviewing critical data used for semi-monthly payroll processing while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local tax jurisdictions. This role will be responsible for tax compliance and ongoing payroll tasks including entering employee data, calculating and reviewing payroll registers, running reports, and performing other recurring payroll-related functions. The Senior Payroll Analyst will be adaptable and versatile to keep current with Equip's business structure while balancing the requirements of employment and tax compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, and time and attendance.
  • Compute and audit taxable wage/paycheck calculations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, promotions and other changes to pay rates, and bonus payouts.
  • Manage incoming mail, including research agency tax notices, and resolve outstanding requests.
  • Support employee paycheck or other pay-related inquiries.
  • Execute on all required state tax filings and reporting for multiple entities.
  • Support reporting for People and Finance teams and Equip leadership, including but not limited to monthly payroll analysis summaries and accounts reconciliation.
  • Research and respond to questions that arise from employees or leadership in a diligent and timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively and cross functionally across the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Human Resources or equivalent job experience.
  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience with multi-state, multi-entity payroll operations. Experience with Rippling or similar modern automated HRIS platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of End-to-End Payroll processing (salaries, overtime, bonuses, gross to net calculations, taxable wages, leave pay, garnishments, benefits, retirement, etc.)
  • Experience with tax reconciliation and reporting.
  • Solid foundation in tax laws, reporting (to include federal, state, local, unemployment & PFML taxes) plus FLSA and wage and hour compliance knowledge
  • Experience in a high-growth or fast-paced environment, subject to rapid change and innovation.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel and Google Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, proactive and results-driven.
  • Demonstrated ability to seamlessly manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to providing best-in-class internal customer service and external communication to tax and benefits agencies.

Physical Demands

Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
