BNY Advisors is seeking a Senior Operational Due Diligence Analyst at Vice President/Senior Vice President level to join its Operational Due Diligence team.

This team plays a key role in evaluating an investment manager's non-investment risks, including business, operational, compliance and fund-specific risks that can materially impact client accounts beyond the investment proposition. The Analyst will identify and assess operational risk factors of prospective and existing investment managers managing a wide range of strategies in both alternative (private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, private real estate) and traditional investment structures.

This position is located in our New York City or Boston office.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
  • Lead operational due diligence reviews of alternative investment managers and traditional managers on the BNY Advisors' platform through on-site, virtual, and desktop assessments.
  • Evaluate business, compliance, operational, and fund-related risks associated with investment managers, identifying key risks and assessing the adequacy of controls and remediation actions.
  • Coordinate and manage due diligence meetings with key investment manager personnel, reviewing areas such as organizational structure, personnel, regulatory compliance, legal entity and fund structure risks, trade/deal flow, valuation, cash and collateral management, trading infrastructure, asset monitoring, information technology, background checks, and third-party service providers.
  • Obtain and analyze manager and fund documentation, including offering memorandums, fund formation and deal documents, financial statements, regulatory filings, marketing materials, due diligence questionnaires, internal control reports, and relevant policies and procedures.
  • Prepare clear written due diligence reports documenting scope, review procedures, findings, risk assessments, recommendations, and conclusions for internal and external stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Present due diligence conclusions and material findings to internal stakeholders, investment committees, and other governance forums, and escalate significant issues to relevant partners including Investment, Legal, Compliance, and Operational Risk.
  • Maintain and track remediation and action plans with investment managers, conducting follow-up on identified issues and confirming implementation of agreed mitigating controls.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of investment managers and products to identify material developments, emerging risks, and changes that may impact prior due diligence conclusions.
  • Support client-facing deliverables and discussions by contributing operational due diligence content for reports, RFPs/RFIs, client questionnaires, white papers, and presentations, and by participating in meetings with current and prospective clients as a subject-matter expert.
  • Ensure due diligence records, documentation, and data systems are accurate and up to date in accordance with internal recordkeeping requirements.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the operational due diligence program and lead or support projects that improve team practices, methodologies, and efficiency.
  • Stay current on industry developments and best practices across regulatory, technology, systems, trading, and operational risk topics relevant to investment manager due diligence.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in a business analyst, alternative investment manager research, operations, audit, legal, compliance role within financial services, including Operational Due Diligence experience.
  • Knowledge of private equity / venture capital / real estate / hedge fund strategies and operational best practices of the industry.
  • Ability to articulate concerns/issues effectively to internal and external senior investment management professionals and compliance professionals.
  • Demonstrate a high level of drive, ambition, and intellectual curiosity, with hands-on experience utilizing AI to execute workflows, improve processes, and drive automation and efficiency
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to formulate and support a documented thesis.
  • Ability to support ongoing reviews and take the lead on ad hoc projects while maintaining accountability and ensuring that expected deadlines are met.
  • Ability to professionally represent the firm as required.
  • Familiarity with various global regulatory and compliance regimes, rules, and regulations preferred.
  • Familiarity with investment best practices and market developments with respect to operations, accounting, technology, and compliance preferred.
  • Familiarity with applications such as Backstop Solutions, Diligence Vault
  • Willingness and ability for domestic travel (up to 20%).

Base salary offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base salary is only part of the total rewards package, which may include eligibility for an annual discretionary incentive award.
