Overview

Job Summary

 

The ideal candidate will provide analytical, coordination, and administrative support related to Congressional engagements, inquiries, and legislative oversight affecting the Department of the Air Force space acquisition and integration programs. The analyst assists leadership in preparing responses to Congressional taskers, coordinating information across program offices, and ensuring timely and accurate communication with Congressional stakeholders.

 

This role supports interactions with Congress by tracking legislative requirements, preparing briefing materials, and coordinating responses to Congressional inquiries related to Air Force and Space Force programs. The position works closely with SAF/SQ leadership, SAF/LL (Legislative Liaison), acquisition of program offices, and other headquarters organizations to support legislative engagement and oversight activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

The Congressional Support will:

  • Support coordination and preparation of responses to Congressional Requests for Information (RFIs), Questions for the Record (QFRs), and Congressional correspondence related to Department of the Air Force programs
  • Assist with preparation of Congressional briefing materials, hearing preparation packages, and leadership talking points
  • Track and manage Congressional taskers, deadlines, and response timelines to ensure timely submission of required information
  • Coordinate with SAF/SQ leadership, SAF/LL, program offices, and other headquarters organizations to collect and consolidate program information for Congressional responses
  • Analyze legislative provisions, committee reports, and policy language impacting Air Force and Space Force acquisition programs
  • Support development of briefings, reports, and issue papers related to Congressional oversight and legislative requirements
  • Maintain records and tracking systems for Congressional inquiries, correspondence, and response status
  • Assist with preparation of executive summaries and leadership updates on Congressional activities affecting SAF/SQ priorities
  • Monitor developments within Congressional committees and defense legislation relevant to Department of the Air Force programs
  • Provide coordination support for meetings, briefings, and engagements involving Congressional staff and Department of the Air Force leadership
Requirements

Skills and Experience

 

The Senior Mission Integrator/Acquisition - Congressional Support must have:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience supporting Congressional affairs, legislative analysis, or government affairs in a DoW, Air Force, or federal government environment
  • Knowledge of Congressional processes, defense oversight activities, and legislative coordination procedures
  • Familiarity with Department of the Air Force acquisition programs, policies, and organizational structure
  • Experience preparing briefing materials, reports, and written correspondence for senior leadership
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislative language, policy directives, and program information
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple organizations, program offices, and leadership stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple Congressional taskers simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a high-tempo headquarters or legislative affairs environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain professional discretion

Education and Certifications

 

The Congressional Support must meet the following:

 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government or Legislative Affairs, National Security Studies, International Relations, or Business or Public Administration

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, National Security Studies, or a related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Certification (DAWIA) (if supporting acquisition-related programs)
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) (if supporting budget or appropriations analysis)
  • Professional certifications related to public policy, legislative affairs, or government administration

Security Clearance

 

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

 

Physical Requirements

 

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
