Your Opportunity

Stantec has an exciting opportunity for a Vancouver based Senior Mining Engineer (12+ years) to join our collaborative, vibrant, and supportive team. This position requires an individual with diverse mining experience, some combination of operations, engineering, and corporate office experience is a plus, as well as proven technical competencies to support our mining sector clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and economic solutions related to mining engineering, mine planning, permitting support, geotechnical inputs, and financial analysis. Willingness to lead and manage successful team projects, be a technical lead on multi-disciplinary projects, and perform business development functions are desirable traits for this role.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Provide mine engineering and financial expertise through strong operational and project-based experience.
  • Assist in developing and expanding our service offerings with new and existing clients.
  • Manage tasks and direct and develop our staff as required.
  • Capability to develop project budgets, determine project scope, establish schedules, process appropriate paperwork, and interacting with clients.
  • Ability and desire to engage in business development (e.g. develop proposals and identify project opportunities) with a focus on external relationships and key clients globally.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficiency in the use of planning software programs such as MineSight, Deswik, Whittle or similar packages.
  • Ability to direct others in the use of efficiency and financial programs such as Excel, Deswik, GoldSim, or similar packages.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills demonstrable through the reporting and presentation process.
  • Attention to detail and strong QA/QC skills.
  • Understanding of project related risks.
  • An existing and well-established network within the mining industry is a plus.
  • The ability to demonstrate innovation within the mining process in past projects or roles.

Education and Experience
  • B.Sc. in Mining, Civil, or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Consulting is an asset.
  • Currently licensed as a P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) in the province of British Columbia.

About the Team

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
