Position Description:

We are looking for a Microsoft Fabric Infrastructure Specialist to help design, configure, and operationalize the foundational components of a new Microsoft Fabric data platform.

This role will work closely with our data science, data engineering, cloud, security, and architecture teams to establish a scalable, secure, and governed Fabric environment supporting analytics, data integration, and enterprise reporting use cases.

The role will focus on setting up the core platform capabilities, including OneLake, Fabric workspaces, Data Factory, Lakehouses, Notebooks, Pipelines, security, access controls, and operational practices.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

. Designing and configuring the Microsoft Fabric platform foundation, including tenant settings, capacities, workspaces, domains, and environment structure.
. Setting up OneLake, which Microsoft positions as the single logical data lake for analytics data across a Fabric tenant.
. Configuring Fabric workspaces, workspace roles, item permissions, and access models aligned with enterprise security and governance requirements.
. Establishing OneLake security patterns, including workspace level, item level, and lakehouse level access control.
. Configuring Data Factory components in Fabric for cloud scale data movement, orchestration, and ETL/ELT scenarios.
. Supporting the setup of Lakehouses, Warehouses, Notebooks, Spark environments, and related data engineering components.
. Advising on capacity planning, performance considerations, environment separation, cost management, and operational monitoring.
. Defining platform standards for naming conventions, workspace organization, security groups, deployment practices, and lifecycle management.
. Working with data engineers and data scientists to ensure notebooks, pipelines, lakehouses, and semantic models are provisioned and secured correctly.
. Supporting integration with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure resources, Power BI, DevOps/Git workflows, and enterprise networking/security patterns where required.
. Producing clear technical documentation, configuration guides, and handover material for platform operations.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Candidates should have hands on experience with:

. Microsoft Fabric platform setup and administration.
. OneLake, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Data Factory, Pipelines, Notebooks, and Fabric workspaces.
. Microsoft Entra ID security groups, role based access control, and enterprise identity patterns.
. Data lake and lakehouse architecture, preferably using Delta/Parquet based patterns.
. Azure data platform services such as Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, or Power BI.
. Data platform environment design, including development, test, production, and controlled release practices.
. Security, governance, monitoring, and operational controls for enterprise data platforms.
. Documentation of platform architecture, security models, and operational runbooks.

Preferred Qualifications

. Experience implementing Microsoft Fabric in a regulated or enterprise environment.
. Familiarity with medallion architecture, data product design, and enterprise data governance.
. Experience with CI/CD or Git integration for Fabric assets.
. Knowledge of Power BI semantic models, Direct Lake, and reporting integration patterns.
. Familiarity with Purview, data cataloging, lineage, sensitivity labels, and data governance controls.
. Experience supporting data science or machine learning workloads in a governed analytics platform.
. Microsoft certifications related to Azure, Fabric, Power BI, data engineering, or cloud architecture.

The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95000-$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
