Full Job Description
Job Description

As our Senior Microsoft Engineer, you will be the technical authority driving our hybrid cloud architecture. You will be responsible for bridging our highly available on-premises infrastructure with the cloud by integrating deep, hands-on Hyper-V administration with the centralized governance of Azure Arc. If you excel at transforming traditional datacenter footprints into cohesive, cloud-managed environments-bringing Azure security, observability, and policy to bare-metal and virtualized workloads-this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hybrid Cloud Leadership: Architect, deploy, and lifecycle-manage our enterprise Hyper-V virtualization environments while seamlessly extending Azure management and services to them via Azure Arc.
  • Unified Governance: Implement and enforce Azure Policy, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and centralized RBAC across all Arc-enabled servers and Hyper-V clusters.
  • Performance & Reliability: Engineer highly available Hyper-V failover clusters, optimizing storage (e.g., S2D, CSVs) and software-defined networking for peak performance.
  • Automation & Provisioning: Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools (PowerShell, ARM templates, Bicep) to streamline the provisioning of on-premises VMs and their onboarding into Azure Arc.
  • Observability: Design and maintain unified monitoring strategies using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics to ensure comprehensive visibility across the entire hybrid boundary.

Required Technical Expertise

  • Hyper-V Architecture: 5+ years of senior-level experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting Windows Server Hyper-V environments, including Failover Clustering, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D), and Hyper-V Replica.
  • Azure Arc Mastery: Proven experience deploying and managing Azure Arc-enabled infrastructure (Servers, Kubernetes, or Data Services). You should deeply understand the Connected Machine agent architecture and troubleshooting.
  • Hybrid Management Tools: Proficiency with Windows Admin Center (WAC), System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), and Azure Portal for hybrid fleet management.

Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package which may include:

  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match (annual dollar cap applied)
  • Flexible time off plan
  • 15 paid holidays
  • Sick leave (amount varies by state requirements and is at least the minimum required by any state)
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Life insurance
  • Paid parental leave

The pay range for this role is:

120,000 - 160,000 USD per year (Remote (United States))
