Title: Executive Senior Medical Director - Behavioral Health & Addiction Medicine

Summary:

A growing multi-state behavioral health network is seeking an Executive Senior Medical Director to serve as its primary clinical authority and executive leader. This role focuses on driving clinical strategy, governing care standards, and scaling provider operations across 40-50 clinicians in CO, NM, and CA. While maintaining a targeted clinical practice grounded in low-barrier harm reduction, your primary mandate will be leading organizational change, optimizing EMR workflows, and building high-performing clinical leadership structures.

Day to Day:
  • Executive & Provider Leadership: Directly lead, mentor, and scale a multi-state organization of 40-50 clinical providers, establishing clear accountability, performance metrics, and leadership development pathways.
  • Clinical Strategy & Governance: Define, implement, and advance evidence-based clinical standards, operational policies, and care protocols aligned with ASAM guidelines.
  • Organizational Change & Systems Transformation: Drive clinical workflow optimizations, EMR platform enhancements, and operational scaling across markets in close partnership with executive leadership.
  • Quality, Compliance & Safety: Establish clinical quality metrics, review clinical outcome trends, and lead continuous quality improvement initiatives across all regional markets.
  • Targeted Direct Patient Care: Maintain a active clinical practice delivering low-barrier Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to anchor clinical governance and policy in real-world patient care.

Shift:
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
  • Work Model: Hybrid (~3 days in-person clinic leadership & oversight / 2 days virtual).
  • Location: Must reside in CO or NM (strong preference for Denver Metro Area or Northern CO).

Qualifications:
  • Board Certification: ASAM Board Certified or ABPM Addiction Medicine Certified (Required).
  • Executive Leadership at Scale: Proven track record leading, scaling, and managing large provider organizations (up to 40-50 clinicians) within a multi-site or multi-state behavioral health network.
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted MD/DO license in CO, NM, and CA (or expedited multi-state eligibility).
  • Clinical Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) experience, with demonstrated aptitude for balancing executive responsibilities alongside patient care.
  • Strategic Change Management: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to guide clinical teams through systems rollouts, process changes, and rapid regional expansion.
  • Systems Proficiency: Skilled in leveraging modern EMR tools and clinical technology to elevate operational efficiency, data integrity, and care quality.
