Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace EngineeringJob Description The Mechanical Design Engineer researches, plans, analyzes, designs, and develops mechanical products including ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other defense-related equipment. The role is responsible for performing engineering analysis, testing, evaluation, and product development activities to ensure compliance with engineering standards, military specifications, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Research, design, develop, and analyze mechanical products, assemblies, structures, and mechanisms.
- Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 11.
- Perform technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using engineering tools and software.
- Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results to ensure compliance with technical requirements.
- Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation, engineering reports, presentations, and product records.
- Support engineering design, development, experimentation, testing, and product assurance activities.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams, suppliers, customers, and project stakeholders to support product development and production.
- Provide technical input for project plans, schedules, budgets, and engineering reviews.
- Maintain awareness of industry trends, engineering technologies, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality requirements, and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of related experience.
- Experience creating moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs using CAD software, preferably PTC Creo/Pro-E.
- Strong mechanical design, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supporting manufacturing and production of engineered products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with military and commercial engineering design standards.
- Experience working in a military or defense product manufacturing environment.
- Experience developing precision assembly tooling.
- Good understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009 / Y14.5-2018).
- Experience performing Tolerance Stack Analysis.
- 2+ years of experience with Creo modeling and drawing generation.
- Experience with Windchill or similar EPDM/PDM systems.
- Familiarity with engineering software applications and emerging technologies.
Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience, or
- Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
