About the Role:
As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will serve as a technical lead and vital bridge between initial concept and final construction, driving the design of complex HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. This role offers the autonomy to own the design intent for diverse projects-spanning life sciences to industrial sectors-while directing a team of designers to transform advanced theories into high-quality deliverables. Beyond drafting, you will be instrumental in conducting field assessments, performing critical engineering calculations, and collaborating across disciplines to ensure operational excellence for a varied client base.

Here's a glimpse into your day to day:
  • Leading small and large design projects with support from engineers.
  • Having substantial knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Conducting field surveys to document existing conditions.
  • Preparing calculations under the supervision of engineers.
  • Developing preliminary and detailed designs under the direction of engineers.
  • Completing drawing setup according to company standards.
  • Preparing drawings and directing one or more designers in the preparation of drawings.
  • Creating drawing specifications and controls sequences with support from engineers.
  • Conducting condition assessments and preparing associated reports.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Adhering to corporate design standards.
  • Performing design quality control, monitoring progress, and notifying managers of scope changes.

You'll be a perfect fit if you have:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Associates degree in Drafting and Design is preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of mechanical design experience on relevant projects. Applicable design experience includes creating construction documents for HVAC air side, HVAC water side, plumbing, and fire protection systems, with significant expertise in at least one of these areas.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience preparing heating and cooling load calculations.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience performing ductwork and/or piping pressure drop calculations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience preparing selections for HVAC and/or plumbing equipment.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience collaborating with vendors for equipment selections.
  • Ability to direct designers for creation of drawings in Revit and CAD.
  • Ability to perform field work that will include walking, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to travel to client sites.
  • Strong team collaborator
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive work attitude, and willingness to learn new skills.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Pay: $40-55 hourly (depending on experience)
