Full Job Description
Role Purpose

We are seeking a Senior Engineer with materials engineering technical expertise to lead manufacturing and product support for metals related activities associated with our endless rod and progressing cavity pump products as well as contribute to metals related development projects. This role requires willingness and ability to work directly in laboratory and manufacturing environments. A critical function of this position is technical oversight of our two Materials Laboratories along with their associated activities and personnel as well as coordinating metals related manufacturing and product line support. This role also includes engagement with internal stakeholders and clients through preparation of documentation and direct interaction. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that technical activities meet the highest standards and are delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oversight for materials laboratory testing and evaluations including product failure analysis and reporting. Ensure activities follow internal procedures with a high level of focus on safety and drive continuous improvement and process optimization in the laboratories.
  • Provide technical direction and support the development and growth of laboratory technologists and junior engineering staff through mentorship, collaboration and knowledge transfer.
  • Lead product performance investigations, including high profile cases, coordinating directly and effectively with internal operations, applications engineering and sales groups as well as external clients.
  • Provide manufacturing support as it pertains to metal materials and associated processing.
  • Manage metals engineering activities and projects including planning, research, experimental test design and execution, evaluation and reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver high quality technical reports and presentations tailored to a wide variety of audiences. Occasional travel in Canada, the US and potentially other international locations is required.
  • Quickly become familiar with, and integrate into, ongoing activities and projects to support and maintain momentum on critical initiatives.
  • Member of the engineering leadership team that manages the overall group including strategic and tactical planning.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or a closely related field (MSc or higher preferred). Currently registered or eligible to be registered as a Peng. with APEGA.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in materials engineering with at least five years in an organization that develops and manufactures products.
  • Extensive metallurgical expertise and experience. Steel and alloy product heat treatment, surface engineering, welding and electromagnetic inspection familiarity would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking abilities with experience supervising small technical teams and delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise and experience with product inspections and laboratory testing, failure analysis and report preparation.
  • Demonstrable track record of executing complex activities and projects from inception to completion including leading the associated technical resources.
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work directly in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting, client engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry standards and specifications (e.g., ISO, API, ASTM) and their application in design, testing and manufacturing.
