The Opportunity:

Make your mark while you grow your career! The Mechanical Engineer provides technical guidance and input across all mechanical engineering aspects of design, operation, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with jurisdictional regulations, relevant industry standards, and best practices. The role supports Thermal Oil Sands and Conventional oil and gas surface facilities, as well as capital projects, including brownfield and greenfield developments, and management of change (MOC) operational projects.

  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide technical review, critique, and engineering expertise to EPCs and external contractors in the development of engineering deliverables
  • Review, oversee, and approve internally completed engineering work, including authentication of professional work products as required
  • Evaluate and approve concessions and deviations from internal engineering standards
  • Support Asset Integrity teams with code-related inspections, fitness-for-service assessments, and piping and vessel registrations and modifications
  • Participate in and lead mechanical discipline contributions during Process Hazard Assessments (PHA), Risk Assessments, and Design Safety Reviews
  • Support the development and implementation of mechanical standards and procedures (including piping, valves, and static equipment), and mentor Engineers and Engineers-in-Training to build technical capability

What You Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10-20+ years of relevant industry experience in the mechanical discipline, with a focus on static equipment and piping (design, calculations, analysis, and technical documentation review)
  • Extensive project experience within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB), with strong preference for SAGD/CSS thermal oil sands experience in Alberta
  • Experience in detailed design and fabrication environments, including equipment packaging, with additional exposure to rotating equipment considered an asset
  • Broad mechanical expertise, including familiarity with pipelines, rotating equipment, and strong understanding of interdisciplinary interfaces
  • Professional registration (or eligibility) with APEGA, EGBC, or APEGS, along with strong knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards, and proven communication, facilitation, and continuous improvement skills
