Instacart is the leading online grocery company in Canada, serving 98% of households across 10 provinces and 100 retail banners. The grocery delivery category is competitive and growing rapidly, and this role is responsible for building Instacart's brand and business in Canada.

We're looking for a Senior Marketing Manager II to own consumer marketing for Canada. You will be responsible for developing the marketing strategy and owning execution across integrated campaigns, local content, and partnerships, working closely with brand, media, creative, CRM, and agency partners to drive measurable outcomes. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role at the intersection of growth, brand and performance marketing on a lean, fast-moving team.

The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, a genuine feel for what resonates with Canadian consumers, the ability to develop strategy and build cross-functional buy-in, and the discipline to deliver quality work across multiple concurrent programs.

This role reports to the Director, Consumer Growth & Partnerships Marketing.

What you'll cook up in your first year
  • Develop & gain executive alignment of the Canada marketing strategy.
  • Execute the marketing strategy as the single DRI in partnership with cross-functional teams and agencies.
  • Own Canada brand partnerships and agency relationships including supporting existing relationships and recommending new opportunities.
  • Inform Instacart's Canadian brand and business growth with deep consumer, category, and competitive insights.
  • Own the Canadian influencer program that produces local, engaging content that fuels performance, developed in close partnership with our media team and agency partners.
  • Ensure that campaigns and content reaching Canadian consumers are accurate, culturally relevant, and on brand - with localization expertise applied across owned and paid content.
  • Own Canada monthly marketing budget tracking ensuring it is managed on time and with precision.

The secret ingredients we're looking for

Must-have pantry staples (Minimum Qualifications)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in brand marketing and integrated campaign marketing with a strong focus on strategy and execution, preferably within a US-based consumer tech company navigating Canada as a distinct market.
  • A proven ability to develop marketing strategy, translating business goals into compelling brand narratives and breakthrough campaigns.
  • Deep fluency in brand and campaign marketing mechanics: you understand how to write a strategic & creative brief; partner with channel leads and agency partners; and execute & measure.
  • You are willing to roll up your sleeves and play both high & low--- moving fluidly between executive strategy and hands-on execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting and defending strategy to VP and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian culture and market nuance, including regional differences across the country and experience reaching consumers in Quebec.
  • A natural collaborator who excels at building consensus and leading diverse cross-functional teams towards shared goals.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience.

About Instacart

Instacart is an American company that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada. The company offers its services via a website and mobile app. The service allows customers to order groceries from participating retailers with the shopping being done by a personal shopper. Instacart was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Apoorva Mehta, a former Amazon.com employee. Apoorva was born in India and moved with his family to Canada in 2000. He studied engineering at the University of Waterloo and graduated in 2008. He was a participant in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch, which eventually led to the creation of Instacart. In 2013, Mehta was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Apoorva previously worked at BlackBerry, Qualcomm, and then Amazon as a supply chain engineer, where he developed fulfillment systems to move packages from Amazon's warehouses to customers' homes. Before founding Instacart, Apoorva had tried to start at least 20 other services. He tried building an ad network for social gaming companies, and developing a social network specifically for lawyers, among other start-ups. Instacart originally launched in San Francisco. By April 2015, the firm had about 200 employees. It introduced a new policy around June allowing some shoppers to choose to be part-time employees, starting with Chicago and Boston and extending its offer to shoppers in Atlanta, Miami, and Washington D.C. the following month.
