SENIOR MARKET STRATEGIST

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This senior role is responsible for translating centralized investment guidance from the Bank's Investment Management Group into actionable, usable insights for City National Rochdale's independent advisor business. The Senior Market Strategist serves as a bridge between enterprise-level investment strategy and Rochdale's portfolio management platform, helping convert asset allocation guidance, economic forecasts, product feedback, and thought leadership into clear messaging, tools, and portfolio-relevant perspectives. This individual will work closely with portfolio managers who partner directly with financial advisors, equipping them with consistent market views, investment themes, and practical talking points that can be used in advisor and client conversations. The role also supports national business initiatives by representing Rochdale's investment ideas, market perspectives, and brand in a consistent and credible manner across internal, advisor-facing, and client-facing settings.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Strategic Implementation of CIO / IMG Guidance• Translate centralized CIO and Investment Management Group guidance - including asset allocation views, macroeconomic outlooks, portfolio positioning, product feedback, and investment themes - into practical, usable insights for Rochdale's independent advisor business.• Partner with Rochdale portfolio managers to help interpret enterprise investment guidance and convert it into advisor- and client-ready messaging.• Develop clear and consistent materials, talking points, presentation content, and portfolio-relevant insights that portfolio managers can use when working with financial advisors.• Help ensure that Rochdale's market commentary, investment positioning, and advisor-facing content remain aligned with centralized CIO guidance and broader firm strategy.• Provide feedback from Rochdale portfolio managers and the independent advisor channel to the Investment Management Group regarding product usage, advisor needs, client concerns, and market-related questions.
  • Market Commentary, Investment Messaging, and Brand Representation• Serve as a senior voice for Rochdale's investment perspectives in support of national business development, advisor engagement, and client-facing initiatives.• Represent Rochdale's market views and investment ideas in meetings, presentations, conferences, and other business forums where consistent investment messaging is required.• Prepare and deliver market commentary, economic updates, portfolio themes, and investment talking points for use by portfolio managers and business partners.• Support the development of investment messaging that reinforces Rochdale's brand, market outlook, and differentiated value proposition.• Partner with investment leadership, portfolio managers, product teams, and business development teams to ensure investment commentary is clear, timely, practical, and aligned with firm guidance.• Participate in national advisor and client events as appropriate, with a focus on reinforcing the firm's investment views and supporting portfolio-manager-led advisor relationships.
  • Portfolio Manager Enablement and Advisor Support• Work primarily through Rochdale portfolio managers who partner directly with financial advisors, ensuring they are equipped with consistent investment messaging, portfolio context, and market insights.• Help portfolio managers translate complex market and allocation guidance into clear explanations that can be used in advisor and client conversations.• Develop frameworks, messaging, and presentation support that enhance portfolio managers' ability to communicate investment strategy to financial advisors.• Collaborate with portfolio managers to identify recurring advisor questions, market concerns, and content needs, and help develop scalable resources to address them.• Support advisor engagement indirectly by strengthening the quality, consistency, and usability of investment content delivered through the portfolio management
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration• Collaborate with the Investment Management Group, Rochdale investment leadership, portfolio managers, product teams, and distribution partners to ensure alignment between centralized guidance and field execution.• Maintain awareness of market trends, advisor needs, portfolio manager feedback, and competitive positioning to continuously refine investment messaging.• Contribute to the development of a consistent investment communication framework across the Rochdale platform.• Help ensure that centralized investment guidance is implemented in a way that is practical, relevant, and effective for the independent advisor channel.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in investment strategy, market research, portfolio management, wealth management, or related investment roles.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience of demonstrated ability to translate macroeconomic views, asset allocation guidance, and investment themes into practical portfolio and client communication
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience partnering with portfolio managers, investment teams, or advisor-facing professionals to deliver investment content and market insights
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience supporting wealth management, independent advisor, or intermediary distribution platforms preferred
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience presenting market views and investment ideas in advisor-facing, client-facing, or internal business settings preferred
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder

  • Deep understanding of global financial markets, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and wealth management investment solutions
  • Ability to synthesize centralized CIO guidance, economic forecasts, and investment themes into clear, practical, and actionable messaging

Compensation
Starting base salary: $175,745 - $326,377 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
